GAITHERSBURG TO PROVIDE WHEELED RECYCLING CARTS Beginning July 1, 2009, the City of Gaithersburg, Maryland, will modify its curbside recycling program to make it more convenient for residents to help the environment. Residential recyclers will have the option of using a 65 gallon wheeled recycling cart with a lid. The new cart can hold about four times the amount of the currently used green bins. Also, users will be allowed to co-mingle recyclable aluminum, plastic, glass, newsprint and paper. There will no longer be a need to break down cardboard boxes which can be placed near the recycling bin. There is a limit of one wheeled cart per household. Recession Gardens are back in style again and are becoming popular through out the country. In the last few months I have seen more than one article referencing the phenomenon and its revival throughout our country.  They require hard work and the effort of the community but the pay off is well worth it. Locals are joining together to "clear" vacant lots in their community of trash and debris and then planting vegetable gardens for each one of the members/families that helped to clear the lots. By pooling their resources of time , manual labor and money the benefits for the many outweigh the benefit to any one member.
