Maryland Christmas Show, Frederick, MD   The Maryland Christmas Show is one of the annual events that Dolores and I like to attend in Frederick, Maryland. This is an excellent arts and crafts show. It is a good time to select holiday gifts and decorations. The event will take place over two long weekends, November 22, 23 and 24 and November 29, 30 and December 1, 2013. The hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. The admission fee is $7 for adults and $4 for children 10 and under. Parking is $2. Please note that pets are not allowed. In 1814, Dr. John Tyler, an eminent ophthalmologist and the first American-born physician to perform a cataract operation, owned a parcel of land near the courthouse square in Frederick, Maryland. The city made plans to extend Record Street south through Tyler’s land to meet West Patrick Street (the street behind his house). In fighting the city, Tyler discovered a local law that prevented the building of a road if work was in progress on a substantial building in the path of a proposed road. In today's tumultuous housing market many prospective homebuyers are forced to make some hard decisions in regards to their living space. There is no doubt that the downward spiral of house values since 2008 have made many choose to wait out this market until house values improve.
