The Unwelcoming Committee     It was a cold and rainy morning, when suddenly she heard a loud KNOCK . . . . KNOCK . . . . KNOCK at her front door. Next she noticed that someone was trying to turn the front door handle.  And then, worst and scariest of all was a man shouting expletives, saying that her roof was leaking on his house.  He then started calling her a nigger. Through the window, she noticed that it was the man who lived next door. She called the police who came and calmed the man down.   --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- She had settled on the house only a week ago. As part of the contract, the roof was actually new. Since settlement, she has moved in to the house and h...

Why As Is? My client was looking to buy a house and the type of financing that she would use would require that the house which she purchased was basically safe, sound, secure, and livable.   To meet this condition, some "as is" conditions, which were not perfect about the house would probably be okay. Her affordability was $100,000 or less. There was some reluctance to look at houses which advertised that they were being sold "As Is" simply because of her financing, however there were a limited number of houses so we did look at a few that we thought might be acceptable in spite of being sold as is. As an example of why I question selling a house "As Is", I present this comparison of two houses, which we saw, where one was listed "As Is" and the other was not.  The houses were located ...

Ben and Laura have a contract ! We're moving to Dundalk !           You may have perused the previous blog about this young couple's journey from star gazing new parents to actual bonafide home owners. They have been through the wringer with full price offer's that were turned aside when the seller decided not to sell to the contract that wasn't a contract.           Well, we kept searching and showing and pondering and suggesting. They kept viewing and talking and deciding. They took that leap of faith and made yet another offer. ACCEPTED          Now the process begins. Home inspection, appraisal and confirmation of the loan. There are still ups and downs that occur in every transaction. They are good with that. You see, it won't be long before this delightful young couple will sit at...

Baltimore: Cruisin' That is right; Baltimore and Cruisin' go together. It started out slowly, but the popularity of Baltimore as a port to catch a cruise ship has significantly and quickly increased. In 2008, there were 27 cruises which departed from Baltimore and now that number has increased to 91 cruises for 2010. Even in these tough economic times over 90 percent of the cruises that left Baltimore sailed at 100 percent capacity. Cruises are now offered year round with destinations such as the Caribbean, the Bahamas, Bermuda, New England, and Canada. Being centrally located in the Mid-Atlantic, and convenient to Interstates 95 and 70, and with very easy access to BWI International Airport, the cruises from Baltimore are gaining immense popularity. Many travelers from North Carolina, ...

I finally convinced my friend George Kuda  to accept my invitation to Active rain and join. He will be the first to admit that beyond work, he is not as ACTIVE as he could be on the internet. Currently he does not have a Twitter or Facebook account and he has no idea how he even has a Linkedin account. We discovered it yesterday over a breakfast meeting. George has been a good friend for many years. We play golf together. We were playing together when I scored my "Hole in One". He will be the first to tell you that I play like Happy Gilmore and that triumph was beyond a fluke! This year in the same tournament we all received trophies for the "Duffer Award". I got us lost on the way to the golf course and we missed 5 holes!!!! George has always worked for Equitable Trust Mortgage as long...
