Columbia, Maryland is a great place to call home. Columbia, Maryland is a planned community in the heart of Howard County that consists of ten self contained villages. It is considered a suburb of Baltimore and somewhat close enough to Washington DC to call Columbia home and commute on a daily basis. Located close to Interstate 95 and serviced by The MARC train these Metro areas are easily accessed. Opened in 1967, Columbia was designed to not only eliminate the inconveniences of then-current subdivision design, but also eliminate racial, religious, and income segregation.  Columbia offers great schools, community activities, parks, rec centers and shopping. In the center of Columbia is the Columbia Mall and it does seem that all roads lead there.      2010    2009    % Change Total Sol...

A desperate need for a mid-Winter pedicure brought me into The Hair Connoisseur's Salon & Spa in Columbia, MD yesterday.  My experience with the nail technician (Yanique) was very relaxing and I plan to make a pedicure with her my regular treat to myself.  Before leaving, I made an appointment for next week to have my hair done. From the moment you enter the salon you are welcomed by the pleasant staff and inviting decor.  Salon owner and stylist, Tamara Taylor, greeted me (and every other person who entered) personally and thanked us for our patronage. Tamara is well known in the area for her precision hair cuts, customized color, and her impeccable attention to detail.  Tamara Taylor's work has been featured in Essence, Vibe Magazing, on Regis & Kelly, TV One, The Montel Williams Show...

COLUMBIA, MD 21044 - HOBBIT'S GLEN - COLUMBIA, MD HOME SALES - JANUARY 2010 Hobbit's Glen is a neighborhood in the Village of Harper's Choice in Columbia, Md.  It is one of the older neighborhoods in Columbia ... the homes were built in the 60's through the early 1980's.  Certainly not "old" by most city standards, but for Columbia, the Hobbit's Glen Neighborhood is one of the "oldie but goodies".  The Hobbit's Glen Columbia home sales statistics are in the chart below.  Hobbit's Glen is a beautiful neighborhood compised of townhomes and single family houses.  This Columbia neighborhood is unique because most of the houses are custom one-of-a-kind architecture.  Most of the homes are Contemporary designs with open floor plans, lofty ceilings, and lots of windows.  Many of the homes back...

My two youngest grandsons came to visit me and my husband, Michael, yesterday.  Michael is recuperating from a short stay in the hospital and Dipper, Sheri, Ethan and Seth came to visit - with a box of chocolates for Michael... Seth enjoyed the chocolates! And Ethan left us a priceless "note" in the snow as they were leaving ...!  (It says, "I love Grammy and PaPa" [with kisses!])

Waking up to the Columbia Maryland blizzard was like awakening to a white, blanketed, pristine wonderland.  The quiet (before the plows, snowblowers and shovels) is like no other "sound". On the left, Jack (my 3 year old Standard Poodle) is loving this weather!  He sticks his whole head into the snow (don't know why!) and jumps around like a gazelle. Luke (my 12 year old Standard Poodle) doesn't like to get ice balls in his paws... therefore the booties!  He's not as fond of the snow as Jack, but he does seem to enjoy it, too.

Columbia MD 21044 - Deering Woods Condominium House Values - December 2009   The Condominiums in Deering Woods were built in the 1970's and are located in the Harper's Choice Village Center in Columbia, Md.  The grounds and buildings in DeeringWoods are beautifully landscaped and are surrounded by wooded parkland with walking trails and streams meandering throughout.  The stucco facade on the buildings is reminiscent of southwestern architecture. Howard County boasts some of the best schools in the state of Maryland.  The children who live in these condominiums are currently districted to attend Longfellow Elementary, Harper's Choice Middle, and Wilde Lake High Schools. This area is convenient to the Harper's Choice Village Center shopping area which is anchored by a Safeway Grocery Sto...
