Wow!  What a great turnout by the residents of our Association.  It was great to see all the concerned citizens of Breezy Point in the room.  It was great to have the Sheriffs Department, Calvert County Parks and Rec.  So sorry Linda Kelly couldn't make due to a family emergency. Look for a letter from the community association regarding all the topics we talked about as well as all the answers from the representative of Calvert County on what can happen in the short term and what we can look forward to over the summer. Don't forget to go to the County Beach and get your passes this year, they will be asking residents to present their passes when they go into the park.  Looking forward to a great summer at the beach! E-mail me with any comments or questions you may have from the meeting!

I have found many people who want to put their home on the market aren't considering marketing it as a vacation home. They don't think people would consider it a vacation home. Last year I sold several vacation homes representing buyers and listed below are some homes I sold: Small water view home with beach access built in the ‘50's on a small lot priced around $230,000 Large southern colonial with a water view and deeded beach access built in the 50's on a large lot priced around $400,000. Large waterfront homebuilt a few years ago with deep enough water for a sailboat on a large lot priced over $1,000,000  As you can see there is a wide range of prices and types of homes vacation buyers look for. Each person has their own interests and desires so your home may appeal to a potential v...

I had never heard of Geocaching until reading an article in the Calvert Recorder. So I decided to look into it some more and found that we have several sites in Calvert County. You can search by zipcode on the Geocaching site. Geocaching is like a treasure hunt where people use GPS to try to find the treasure or Cache. You can find out more about it at www.geocaching.com. The towns of Chesapeake beach and North Beach got involved in this high tech treasure hunt by placing cahces of their own. This is expected to bring in new tourists to our area. You can find out more about Marylands invovement at www.mdmunicipal.org Phyllis Minik, www.southernmarylandvacation.com

When the sun comes out and the weather turns warmer, there's no better way to spend the day than to get out of the house and enjoy Mother Nature in all her splendor. Chesapeake Beach is one of the best places to enjoy the salty sea air in Southern Maryland. Bay Front Park is a relatively unknown beach that is a great place to swim, lay out in the sun, build sandcastles or hunt for seashells and sharks teeth. Parking is very limited, so get there as early as you can. Breezy Point Beach, on the other hand, not only offers fun on its sandy shores, but camping as well. You can enjoy swimming in the bay, picnicking on the beach or even fishing. The beach is open daily until October 31st. No pets are allowed, though, so you'll need to leave your furry friends at home. Monthly, weekly and dail...

After many years of planning and work it appears that the Chesapeake Beach Railway Trail in Chesapeake Beach will soon become a reality. Councilmen Bruce Wahl, a champion of the project since 1989, and Stewart Cumbo have obtained 3.3 million to complete the project. The project is part of the Calvert County's plan to improve and expand the town's public open space (Program Open Space). The trail will be an asset to the community and visitors alike and is a demonstration of Chesapeake Beach's commitment to keep and improve its natural resources. The old Chesapeake Beach Railway will be a pedestrian, bike and equestrian path. The trail will begin in Chesapeake Beach's town center near the water park. Eventually a bridge will cross over Fishing Creek which will lead to the railway. The 7.7...

Let me start off by answering the title.  Chesapeake Beach almost offers too much to name.   Some of the great things are a beautiful bayside community, quaint and historic setting, a great quality of life, perfect surroundings, waterfront restaurants, and secluded beaches.  Wow, what more could you ask for?  Well, let me tell you a little more about it. Chesapeake Beach was originally created as a resort town sometime before 1920.  You can find the city in Calvert County , Maryland .  The city can be accessed by Highway 61 giving easy access in and out of town.  Chesapeake Beach is surrounded by water on the Eastside, open space to the North and West, and heavily wooded areas and large sandstone cliffs on the Southside.  The cliffs themselves are a sight to see.  They reach 180 feet ab...
