Check out this Benjamin Banneker Park and Museum kids program for this Saturday, Sept 21st.  A Tree Identification and Scavenger Hunt is the plan for this 1-3pm outdoor nature event.  Kids 6+ with an adult will have a blast using games and maps to discover the same trees that Banneker would have used during this lifetime.   The wonderful Mothers Day Out of Westchester is accepting new families for the 2013 Summer and Fall Sessions.  My son really loved his years in preschool at MDOW and the school just keeps getting better!  The director and her staff have added after care which allow more families to get their kids into a program here.Families from all over Catonsville and Columbia bring their toddlers who then "grow up" into the excellent pre school program which gets them ready for kindergarten.  Affordable?  Yep - at $15 for each 3 hour session it makes quality care an easy choice.  The school is offering an open house on Sunday, January 27th so parents can tour the facility, meet the teachers and learn about the available programs. The third annual Ellicott City 5K, 10K and Kids Fun Run is coming up on Sunday, July 1st at the Benjamin Banneker Park in Oella.  The park is near Catonsville and old Ellicott City and surrounded by trees so it's a gorgeous run!  The race is sponsored by MedStar NRH Rehabilitation Center and is also intended to raise awareness about diabetes in adults and children.   Proceeds will go to Adventures for the Cure which sends kids with diabetes to camp and supports kids with disabilities in Kenya.The 5K and 10K both start at 8:15 that morning and a .4 mile Kids Fun Run starts right after.  The kids race is open for 4-10 year olds and should be fun to watch!The courses will take runners down Oella Avenue, onto Old Frederick Road and then to the Trolley Train #9.  Beginner and moderate racers... 06/17/2012

Wednesday June 1st- I took the day off!After the 31 day challenge of May marathon I am sure there were a lot of people who did not post for the day.I was busy elsewhere!Yesterday my little baby graduated from Pre-K. Doesn't time fly!We had a WONDERFUL ceremony at M.D.O.W Pre-K program in Oella to end the year. It was complete with a procession to the stage with all the children sporting mortarboards that had been hand made. All the children sang us some of the songs they had learned in music class this year with Miss Kathleen and also performed the ENTIRE alphabet in sign language.  They all received a diploma of completion and walked across the stage to accept it.
