On my way dropping off my youngest to pre-school earlier today, I noticed a neighbor setting up for the big night -- or should I say FRIGHT?. I just had to stop and snap a few photos.   It was already beginning to be a SPOOKTACULAR event.   I mean they were really getting into the SPIRIT of things.   I wish you all could have seen the entire effect at night. It was unbelievable -- music (MJ's Thriller, of course!), lights bouncing off everthing, smoke (the entire block was cloudy, seriously...).  It was great!    Sorry I couldn't capture it for ya'll but my girls wouldv'e slapped me silly if I concentrated on anything other than assisting them in getting enough candy to last them through the year and beyond. After the Federal Reserve Funds rate cut of 1/2 a point on September 18th the yield of the benchmark 10 yr. treasury has risen by 23 basis points while the price has fallen by 1 15/32. This cut came in an attempt to keep consumer spending in line with inflation and, in the face of the growing consumer credit crisis and mortgage market fallout, bail us out of a potential recession looming on the horizon.Stocks have been on the rise since the rate cut, as have mortgage rates (rising about an eighth to a quarter of a point or so in the two days since the cut. At this point, I don't think the FED can do enought o keep us from backsliding into a recession. The yield curve on U.S. Treasuries has finally righted itself, but the rising stock prices, growing gas prices, and weakness of the dolla...

The yield on the benchmark 10 year Treasury note climbed ten basis points through the course of this week as a government report showed U.S. sales figures were weaker than expected. Consumer sentiment and consumer confidence in these troubling economic times has finally rebounded from their lowest points in the year last month. A fed report showed that U.S. production grew only .2% as opposed to the expected .5% gain. This news comes on the heels of the much anticipated September 18th meeting of Federal Reserve, in which Bernanke and Co. are expected to cut the prime interest rate to aid both the housing slump and credit crunch. The Fed may cut the prime interest rate by up to as much as one-half percent in order to adjust consumer spending to be in line with inflation figures. Even so,...
