If you've spent anytime in Annapolis, you've probably been caught in the occasional backup that occurs when the Spa Creek Drawbridge goes up.  While it can be a little annoying, it can also is kind of fun, especially if, like me, your favorite place to be caught is first in line at the gate that drops prior to raising the bridge.For a few minutes, it's like going back in time to the 1800's: you can imagine a bridge going up to let steam ships or coal barges pass by; even if the real traffic consists of a few sail boats rushing to the starting line for Wednesday Night Racing or a cruiser returning from a weekend gunkholing on the eastern shore.Of course the real scene as you sit there in your car isn't bad:  Hundreds of masts all around you, boats maneuvering to pass through the narrow p... 08/27/2007
