Yesterday, we had a fire break out in a home that was built in the year of 1900.  It was an older house located in Abingdon Maryland, and the most tragic part of this fire was that a husband, wife, and three grandchildren were killed due to smoke inhalation.  This fire happened at 10:00 in the morning, and had about 65 firefighters present to fight the blaze.  In this day and age, it is hard to imagine that a home would not have smoke detectors.  My home has smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.  The above home had smoke detectors but was found that the batteries were dead.  The husband and wife also had a daughter living there along with one other grandchild who were both at school when the fire broke out.  We can only imagine the pain that those two are going thru right now, and all ou...
