Beauty treatments at Mocine Salon & Spa in Worcester. Several of my friends decided to get together and have ourselves a pampering day of beauty.  We made a date to meet at Mocine Salon & Spa in Worcester this Saturday.  One of us got a Massage.  Another ordered a pedicure and the other friend decided to go with a manicure.  I opted for a hair cut.    Located on Park ave in Worcester, Mocine Salon & Spa is easy to find and has a parking lot shared with other local businesses.  We arrived early to take a look at the facility and fill out the back ground information.  Stepping into Mocine is like walking into a middle eastern bazaar.  Hanging sheer fabric panels in muted burgundy and beige bring your eye to the gilded tin ceiling.  Modern waterfall signs remind us that this is a hip salon...

Oz the Great and Powerful at Showcase in Worcester, my review. Last night I traveled to Showcase in Worcester to see a new movie: Oz the Great and Powerful.  This retelling of the Wizard of Oz has just hit the theaters this week and I wanted to get the first look at how it measures up to it's long standing heritage and spin offs.  I also decided to see it in 3D to get the full sensation of the visual affects I was expecting.   We all heard the story of Dorothy Gale and her adventures in the land of Oz.  But we know very little of the Wizard Dorothy went to see in the Emerald City.  We know that he too came from Kansas and he traveled on a hot air balloon.  Oz the Great and Powerful is a story of the Wizard and how he came to be.   Without giving too much away, there are a few twists and...

A Worcester MA home buyer should receive a brochure, Home Inspectors Facts for Consumers Sheet, at the time of the signing of the first written contract to purchase from the Seller or Seller's agent.Since MA Home Inspector licensing in 2001, a consumer must have a signed exclusive buyer's agent agreement with a Real Estate Broker or Salesperson before the Real Estate Broker or Salesperson can refer a home inspector.Without a signed exclusive buyer's agent agreement, the Real Estate Broker or Salesperson may only refer the buyer to the list of all MA Home Inspectors from the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Home Inspectors.Finding your Worcester MA Home Inspector from the list of all MA home inspectors can be quite a challenge. An internet search for "Worcester MA Home Inspector" m...

Yesterday I took the kids to the Worcester Airport for an event that I was invited to on Facebook called Soarin’ With Santa.  What an awesome day!!!  First we were greeted at the door where we were given a ticket  with a number on it so we could go up and see Santa once he arrived.  Then we enjoyed some free samples of Polar beverages and got to visit with the Polar Bear.  Zach & Will went on to make some Christmas ornaments and then we rushed outside to make sure we didn’t miss Santa’s arrival. Watching closely we first saw a blue Ford SUV drive down towards us.  There was someone waving graciously at the crowd and at first I couldn’t tell who, but then I saw the lovely Jennifer Roy.  Jen is a beautiful Worcester TV & radio newscaster who I recently met outside of Facebook through Kara...

Keeping you updated on the market! For the week of November 5, 2012 MARKET RECAP “Dog bites man” has been a leading theme as we head toward 2013. By that, we mean we continually report on improving home prices; to the point where home prices are almost no longer longer news. We say “almost,” because after years of reporting on falling prices, we still have a ways to go on the upside to balance the scales. The latest price data from S&P/Case-Shiller added more weight to the rising-price side. Case-Shiller's data show home prices edged up 0.9% month-over-month in August for 19 of the 20 cities it follows. Case-Shiller's data continue to affirm the positive price-trend data issued by other popular pricing providers, such as Zillow, Fiserv, and CoreLogic. Speaking of CoreLogic, its lates...

Meet The Megas Interview A Look inside the Powerful Megas of Keller Williams Realty by Lori Ballen       David Hill - DI / 7*81*4Realtor - Mega Agent - SpeakerWorcester MA I first met David Hill at a private Marketleader party at the Keller Williams Family Reunion in Orlando, Florida back in February of 2012. David was the quiet one at the table. I remember thinking, "This guy must think I'm crazy" as I proceeded to kneel at the table as there were no more chairs. The company at the table was clearly very fond of David as they proceeded to explain to me that he is the "Expired" king of the real estate industry. Shortly after, David called me to pick my mind about Craigslist and internet marketing. I may have scared him even more. I spent a bit more time with David in Vegas at Mastermin...

Keeping you updated on the market! For the week of July 2, 2012     MARKET RECAP It's getting easier to understand why home builder sentiment keeps rising monthly: sales and prices are now in an established uptrend. Indeed, new home sales recorded a very solid 7.6 percent increase in May, posting at a much higher-than-expected 369,000 annualized units. Now, it's true that the national median price of a new home sold in May edged down 0.6 percent to $234,500 for the month but when we look at the past 12 months, we see that new home prices are up 5.6 percent. We see no reason why prices will backslide for long. There simply isn't enough supply to satisfy demand. The surge of buying in May lowered new-home inventory to a 4.7-month supply at the current sales rate. This is the lowest in...

Fun at The Stripping Workshop in Worcester MA   One of my favorite businesses in Worcester, MA, is The Stripping Workshop.  Before your mind goes there, let me tell you that The Stripping Workshop is a furniture upholstering and refinishing shop! Occasionally, I'll have a piece of furniture, usually chairs, that need new upholstery.  And without a second thought, I take the piece to The Stripping Workshop.  They offer yards and yards of upholstery fabric, in all different price ranges.  You select your fabric and leave your furniture at the shop.  They give you a quote and call you to pick it up when done.  So easy and so beautifully done. Right now, they are working on a set that my husband and I inherited from his parents.  It is a mid-20th century chair and ottoman, made in Denmark a...

The mortgage underwriting process can best be described as a rock fight from start to finish. The key to today's pipeline is preparation on the front end of the transaction and having the biggest rock for the fight. Another key to success is having a client that will follow direction and not fight you every step of the way. The kiss of death to keeping time-lines in check are when clients say things like "I think I have given you enough" or "I shouldn't need to get you that for my loan". GRRRRR is all you can say and try and explain that we are trying to make it by the gate keeper and working with me will be the best way to do that. I'm sure many of you can echo the same frustrations. We all continue to arm ourselves with better procceses or  better tools for our clients in hopes to str...

Mortgage underwriting after the credit crisis of 2008 and 2009 is like navigating a downtown Boston St. after a harsh New England winter, it's full of pot holes. These underwriting pot holes can deflate your hopes of an on time closing if you don't know have the vision to see what lies ahead. The most frustrating of these obstacles areincomplete bank statements and sourcing deposits in your checking and savings account. A required underwriting condition with most purchase loans, whether that's conventional or government, is to provide the last 2 months worth of bank statements. When providing these statements, it's very important that these are full bank statements that include your NAME ADDRESS FULL ACCOUNT NUMBER (no partial #s or Xs) ALL PAGES of the statement. (if it says 1 of 7, ...

Most of today was spent in Worcester MA at St. Vincent's Hospital with my daughter Tammy.  She dislocated her shoulder and needs surgery after Christmas.  While I was there, I thought I'd take a few photos of the breathtaking atrium area at St. Vincent's Hospital.  Tammy works for Reliant and is a medical assistant for the ob/gyn group of Dr.'s in this hospital.  It's certainly convenient for her.  Her arm was hanging and she walked over to the emergency room and was seen immediately by the orthodpedic group of Dr.'s.  Here are some photos of my granddaughter, Gina; the waterfall in the atrium; the Christmas tree; the wise men and the manger scene with baby Jesus.  The ceiling of glass panels must be spectacular on a sunny day.  Today was not.
