If you live in Massachusetts or Conneticut have you heard your foundations are crumbling?  That's right!!!  Homes built between 1983 and 2017 are at risk of faulting cement and the basements are failing.  The mineral pyrrhotite must be present to result in the foundation to deteriorate in the way observed. The naturally occurring pyrrhotite reacts with oxygen and water over time in a chemical process that makes the concrete swell, crack and crumble. It takes 10, 15 or even 20 years for the cracking and swelling to become apparent. There are many orchards throughout Central Mass, but the one closest to our home and the one we visit most often is the Breezelands Orchards.  Located at 1791 Southbridge Road in Warren, this wonderful orchard was established in 1896 by the Tuttle family and still is owned and operated by their family.  Breezelands Orchards has more than 100 acres featuring over 8,000 fruit trees.  Some of my personal favorites at the Breezelands Orchards are their famous warm cider donuts and their apple pies made fresh daily.  My mother and father in-law from Texas make several trips to the orchard when they are in town.  You can purchase apples, peaches, pies, donuts, jellies, maple syrup and honey at the farm stand.  Come and enjoy some apple cider made daily.  Click here to print out a coupon for a... 09/20/2009
