Many people know that there is a "newfangled" mortgage called a reverse mortgage. However, the options, uses, guidelines, and benefits are not as well known. I know a specialist for reverse mortgages, Bob Tranchell, Director of Reverse Mortgages at Total Mortgage Services, who explained a recent package he put together for a borrower using a reverse mortgage to purchase a house. How this was completed is best explained by Mr. Tranchell. So my first comment is to contact a specialist like Bob to get the straight, correct, and most current information.  And, I would also comment that not all reverse loan specialists are as good as Bob is. The Barnstable County Registry Of Deeds has released their data for the month of December. It is a good record of activity and when compared to past data it provides a guide for discussing trends. Unfortunately, it indicates a value and volume drop for some points of data. The Register, John F. Meade reports that there were 523 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in December of 2013 for sales values above $50,000.00. The total value of county-wide real estate sales is $230,348,880.00 in December. For comparison, there were 715 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in December 2012. It is a new year and the Falmouth Volunteers In Public Schools are meeting to encourage and inform anew adults in the community who might like to become mentors for High School students. My wife and I have done this in the past.  There is a particular meeting on the 16th at 7:30 in the morning at the Atria Woodbriar buildings. This is being described as a Youth Mentoring Open House. There will be coffee, breakfast and more explanation about the mentoring program with VIPS.   Each adult is paired with a student that just needs someone to talk to. Sometimes they are from great homes but the family is going through a crisis. Robert Paul Properties Falmouth MA Christmas Stroll 2013 Last night was the Falmouth Christmas Stroll.  We turned the Falmouth office into a candy store where the candy was free. We had lots of visitors and strollers of all ages who came in and filled bags of free Christmas Candy. One of the fun events was that the Falmouth High School Band came in and warmed up. After they picked some treats, they played outside our office. They were great! We had a great time.  Today is the Falmouth Christmas Parade - the largest Christmas Parade in South East New England. Merry Christmas.
