My weekend started sitting in the rain, watching high school football. Jesuit v. Holy Cross. It was not pretty but enjoyable none the same.  Yesterday I was lucky enough to watch the Mich v ND game. It was a good one. LSU v.Vandy, I watched this on as well. LSU pulled out a victory although I had my doubts but  I will take it. Ohio v USC a great game as billed. . Today the Saints will kick off @ noon. We never know what will happen here in New Orleans when the Saints are playing.  The entire weekend here in New Orleans has been nothing but RAIN. This won't matter the Saints are at home in the DOME. Its football season so enjoy a game.

Moving to New Orleans The oldest church in New Orleans is the Saint Louis Cathedral. It is located in Jackson Square in the Heart of the French Quarter. St. Patrick's Catholic Church is the second oldest in the Archdiocese of New Orleans. New Orleans is rich with religious activity and learning. One such tradition is Mardi Gras. Believe or not Mardi Gras has its roots in religion. The region will celebrate Mardi Gras 2010 on February 16. Considering moving to New Orleans your thoughts may turn to your local catholic churches. A large amount of the local population are Catholics. Here is a list of all of the Catholic Parishes in Greater New Orleans.

Pontchartrain Place Condos, 420 Old Hammond Highway. On the Lake!       Pontchartrain Place Condos located in the Buck town area of Jefferson Parish have been around for 24 years.  Its got a great location across the road from  Lake Pontchartrain and the levee.  Its an easy walk to the New Orleans Marina.   Its an ideal location for those that enjoy the outdoors.  Using the levee for running and biking is a favorite past time.      There are 93 units in the complex with mostly one and two bedroom units.  Many of the two bedroom units are loft style units           The parking is ample on the ground level with designated spots for each condo and plenty of guest parking.  The garage is covered and the units have a storage shed in the garage.  The amenities include in ground  pool and club...

Customer Service I have a property which I am flipping. We were installing new granite countertops. My wife with her eagle eye caught a spot on the granite near the kitchen sink. This spot was discovered during installation. The contractor states he will work it and make it right. After several days and attempts we still were not happy. We owed $1300 dollars.  The contractor tells my wife he wants more money to exchange the granite. The slab of granite is a 9 foot run. So the cost is about $250 plus labor. Long story short, he exchanged the slab and did not charge any more money. The argument which the contractor created included no pay, lawyers and liens. He lost out on future business. At current we are in the bidding process of another property in Metairie, LA. I will be replacing th...

Kenner / Destrehan LA Snow Day 2008 Snow is very rare in Southeast Louisiana. Today it snowed in Kenner LA, by mid morning the snow was starting to take. In other parts of the country they are asking what the big deal is. In Southeast Louisiana the big deal is most have not seen snow nor know how to operate in the snow. Most students stayed home and play, for that matter most adults were no shows at work. This was the earliest in recorder time that it has snowed in New Orleans. The last time it snow was Christmas Day 2004. Naturally it would snow the day I was planning to go Christmas Shopping. As the song goes Let It Snow! Merry Christmas

The largest condominium development in the Metarie area now has 100% financing..Metroview condominiums located on Houma Blvd. This gated community is a well built conversion, with low condo fees and lots of amenities including 2 pools and a gym. In a financial world of loan constraints, there are now options for those with a few dollars in their pocket, good credit and need a clean comfortable place to call their own. Email me at ian70119@yahoo.com or call 615-2333 for options on how to aquire one of these condominiums.

One Down One to Go ~ The Most Wonderful Day of The Year No, not a closings, but back to school. Today my oldest headed off to his first day of Seventh grade at St. Philip Neri in Metairie, LA. He has been attending his mother's grammer school since 2nd grade. This is a little Catholic elementary and middle school. The total population, at least last year, under 700 students. The principle, teachers and staff are top notch. One down and one to go, well Jacob is on his way and his sister is still awaiting her first day on Tuesday. My hope is for ALL our kids to go to school and reach what ever goal they may have in life.

Just a Reminder, mother's day is Sunday.   Don't forget to take of Mom on this very special day.      Time is very precious and sometimes I think we get caught up in our career's and personal life, that we forget to stop and take care of those that are most important to us.    Have a Happy Mother's day weekend!

So alot of times I wish I could be back in the mountains of Tibet, eating fresh Basmati rice smothered in slow cooked curried lamb, and spicy seasoned lentils and chickpeas, variations and computations of buttery chicken, baked tandori chicken breasts large and delicious. So here I am in the heart of suburbia, New Orleans, specifically in Metarie at 2918 CLEARY AVE, (phone # is 899-7880) and I discover this new place this beautiful Sunday afternoon.  This is a plain Jane looking restaurant from the outside...enter into white table cloths, the latest Indian music going on, and what appears to be a simple buffet.Being the food snob that I am, I questioned the outward appearance.  Well....the food was incredible.  Not to knock the places downtown that I have paid upwards of $35 for a peice ...

The One Metairie Place Condos are in the center of Metairie near causeway and I-10. The photos of the unit I have below give you an idea of the type of units that are for sale. The 2601 Metairie Lawn Building was the first completed and is the best building in the group. The gated complex with reserved parking remains a popular complex. The Metairie location is about 25 minutes to the New Orleans central business district. The condo fees are paid quarterly and the taxes are low in Jefferson Parish. The taxes if you live here would be about $800 per year. You are a mile away from Lakeside Shopping which is the cental shopping center of Jefferson Parish.  2601 Metairie Lawn #220$159,000 ReducedOne Metairie PlaceMetairie, La. 70002  Up the stairs to this patio with two units side by side, ...

I recently had to evict one of my tenants in Jefferson parish Louisiana.  For any one not experienced in the procedure I will fill you in on how to go about it.  The best way is to send a notice to the tenants to vacate apartment by such and such a day.  Hand deliver it to them and keep a copy for yourself.  If they won't leave or you don't think they will then you have to go further.  The Justice of the Peace for the Eastbank is on the 7th floor of the Yenni Building.  Bring a hundred dollars and stick to your story.  The constable will most likely place a notice to evict the same day on the door of the tenant you want evicted.  They will give you a hearing in about five days.  I don't think any where else you can evict someone that fast.  Usually the tenant will leave before this day ...

One of the many choices of condos in the New Orleans Condo is a group of condos that are on the Lake. One of the first condos built as condos about 20 plus years ago where you can enjoy a lifestyle nesr the water. You can walk to the lake and all it has to offer. The New Orleans Marina is steps away as are many places to eart and shop. The taxes are low as the units are in Jefferson Parish. The units are going to be older and more conventional than those in the Warehouse District or Uptown New Orleans. Its a life style choice if you like to ride your bike, walk your dog and not be crowded. Many of the units have been upgraded and tend to be priced as to the size and the view. The common areas tend to be among the best in this area for the price range. The prices will range form 180k to ...

I have sold two condos in the complex this past summer. It offers the best value if you are looking for a one bedroom unit. Its location in Metairie is the prime reason and the fact that all the units have been redone, the insides are new. The two one bedrooms that I sold went for 118k. These are currently still some left from the developer. The developer repaired all the defects and things left undone so we could close on time. Both clients have enjoyed their new place. The taxes are less than $500 per year with the homestead exemption and the condo fees are less than $150 per month. If you are looking for a one or two bedroom in Metairie you should look at the Metro View in Metairie. They are lcoated at 3805 Houma Blvd near East jefferson and the Clearview Shopping Mall.              ...
