That’s the phrase a buyer used when I met he and his wife at an open house on Sunday.  They are renting, having moved to Kansas City from Milwaukee, and seemed to be in their late 20s. The statement really struck me, as I knew exactly what he was talking about. This couple wants to be a part of an active, thriving area with older, charming homes and a high walkability factor. They went on to say how they hate having to drive for every errand; they don’t like homes that all look the same ("beige everywhere”); the suburbs have few sidewalks or small parks;  and can be a confusing maze of cul-de-sacs and generic chain stores and restaurants. Private insurance to protect your home sewer line? That’s what I was reading about this morning in the Kansas City Star. If you are thinking about paying for this service, there are many questions you should ask before paying the premiums!According to the article, Roeland Park and Prairie Village are offering the services of a private company that issues a warranty to protect homeowners from paying thousands of dollars if their is a break in the sewer line between the house and the connection to the main sewer line. The information is sent using the city’s logo on the letter and as the return address. It looks like the city is endorsing or possibly providing the warranty--but it’s not. Looking for a new Mexican restaurant destination?  I had completely forgotten about one that is located in Prairie Village Kansas.
