I love my Mac Computer.  However, the whole Real Estate world hasn't caught on yet so I have to keep my old Windows computer to update my reader key.  My 8 year old grandson likes to play on it as well when he visits, he loves dogs.  A few days after his last visit I went to that computer to update my reader key and found I was locked out of my computer.  I had removed the password protection when I moved all my important "stuff" to my Mac.  I put on my thinking cap and remember that little boy busily playing on that computer.  AHA, I think, my grandson must have password protected my computer, so of course I type in the word "DOG" proudly thinking ,"I've got this one figured out!".........No luck.  So of course I pick up the phone, call the 8 year old and ask, "Did you password protect... 05/15/2012

Lawrence Kansas Area Market Update April 2012 is below courtesy of Lawrence Board of Realtors (used with permission).     This year has produced 22 fewer sales than last year at this time.  DOM (Days on Market) is averaging 3 days longer.  One of the reasons for fewer transactions is that we have fewer active listings this year in the lower price ranges where most of the transactions occur.  If we don't add a lot more houses onto the MLS as active listings, we will actually run out of houses to sell in some price ranges and with some certain criteria.     If sellers don't add their houses to the market, demand will exceed supply and prices will rise which appears to be what is happening.  If sellers decide to add their houses to the MLS, then supply will level off with the demand and pr... 04/20/2012

Foreclosures and Short Sales are 58% of total listings--NOT in Lawrence Kansas!!  This stat is actually from Las Vegas NV for April 2012 but some buyers believe what they hear on the news as being local and applying to the Lawrence KS Homes For Sale.  Lawrence Kansas Real Estate is alive and well with a very small percentage of short sales and foreclosures. There are only 714 Active listings on the Lawrence Kansas MLS for Douglas County KS.  Of those 714 listings, only 26 are foreclosures or only 3.6% and only 17 are short sales or only 2.4%.  43 foreclosures and short sales represent only 6% of all this MLS's listings. While KU recently lost the final game against Kentucky, you wouldn't know it by walking the streets of Lawrence, KS that night. As the game came to an end, the streets of downtown Lawrence were filled with many passionate fans that did not seem phased. No couches were burned, no cars vandalized beyond recognition, just a lot of people that were still happy! While some games, that could be argued were of less importance than the one at hand, were able to cause riots, damage and put lives at risk, it is great to know that there are still safe places to be able to be a sports fan!
