                          Summer has officially begun on Wawasee with the arrival of The Memorial weekend and all the Lake enthusiasts. The biggest enjoyment for me was participating in the return of the Sunday morning "Boat in Worship". With an estimated 50 - 75 boats and a shore audience of about 100, it was a well attended gathering by those who came together to worship the Lord. Kudos to Pastors Cox & Steffan for an outstanding service and a job well done.Special thanks to The Frog for the use of the Lillypad dinner boat for the services to be held on. Services will be held every Sunday at 8:30 A.M. in the Conklin Bay area outside of The Oakwood Inn thru Labor Day. I thought I would take a historical look at homes prices for Lake Wawasee as they pertain to Lake front homes and condominiums. I have compiled statistics for the years 2001 - 2008. On the charts below you will find the average sales price and number of sold properties for each given year.  The ice is gone, piers are going in and the crappie are working their way into the channels. As I  walk by the big blue monster in my drive, I am eager to pull that shrink wrap off and start prepping our boat for its annual launch. Eager to spend a sunny day  on our beautiful Lake Wawasee . Last year just seemed different with marina gas around $5 a gallon, the lake traffic was down.  Also I have anxious anticipation of  a improved housing market around the Lake.Last year was flat no doubt about it.Interest rates hovering around 6% and most sellers still holding on to that 05-06 appraisal, in hopes that their home would somehow sell at a premium only to realize in October that  they were not immune to this downturn. Have you ever had one of those moments in time that was so wonderful that it will be forever ingrained in your mind? One of those moments that you will replay in your mind for years to come.           A Hint of Spring on Lake Wawasee   The trees are still bare, the piers are still sitting on the shore, but the beauty of Lake Wawasee is priceless. As we strolled along the public access shore line with our Shepherd and terrier, how awesome it was to see the ripples flowing across the lake made by the wind and the three fishing boats (yes Boats). Today it was 65 degrees and to think just 3 days ago our lake was completely covered with ice. Goose poop has already arrived and the dogs did not hesitate to wash their feet at the public boat ramp Brrrrrrrr!! Although the ground is still soft from the melting snow the lake is open and boats are floating, fishing lines are out and the smell of spring is in the air. Wawasee sales Report Syracuse Indiana Real Estate - 2008 Home Sales Report 2008  was a real mixed bag of results for the housing markets and our Syracuse area was no exception. This area is blessed with many lakes and because of this factor, we really have two housing markets within one. The homes that do not have any access to one of our lakes, we refer to as non - water. It will be a big week for a group of gals at Wawasee high school.  First up will be the Lady Warriors basketball team. With a senior heavy 19-3 team that is a very experienced squad. They begin their quest for a state title on Wednesday night @ 6:00 p.m. on their home court i right herein Syracuse against Whitko. Be sure and come to support the ladies. Kudo's to Taylor Goshert for being named the Times-Union area Player of the Year. Would also like to mention that the girls swimming state final is to take place at IUPUI starting Friday and concluding on Saturday. Wawasee's own freshman sensation Brittany Robinsonwill be there competing in both the 50 free & 100 fly. What a day, and the weatherman says its getting colder. Its -8 degrees and getting colder? I ain't going anywhere. My shower has already froze up. My door handle on my truck broke off. Seems a need to shovel snow every time I look out.Next week when the temps get back up in the 20's we'll all be in jackets. Since it will be"so"  warm next week I would like to invite everyone out to Lakeside Park in Syracuse to attend the Winter Carnival.  Things kick off Friaday night the 23rd  Chili supper at the community center from 4:30 - 7:00 pm.
