The Harvest Homecoming is the biggest celebration IN Southern Indiana and generally takes place the First Saturday in October.  There are lots of activities like a Harvest Homecoming Parade, a Balloon Race, a 5K Run, Pumpkin Judging Contest, Band Contest, and so much more.  But the one thing that brings it all together are the booths in the downtown area of New Albany.  Several Streets are blocked off in the business district and there must be over 200 booths with fare of every type.  There are of course Food Booths, mt favorite is the VFW Post 1693 Dumplings booth.  For as long as I can remember the VFW Post 1693 has served Dumplings each day during the 4 day booth event as long as they last.  This year was no different. Here are a couple shots of what you might see if you are one of t...

I had the pleaseure of taking a class today from Dick Betts.  You should check out his websites: www.dickbettswebservice.com www.dickbettsnetworking.com www.dickbettsbranding.com Dick imparted the foloowing numbers on us: 92% of Internet Buyers found their agents on a web site. 63% found their agent through an Internet Search Engine 0% claimed to find their agent through brochures, flyers, yard signs or mailers to their home. Do you think you need an internet presence? In 2000, 28% of people surveyed said they used the internet as an important part of their home search According to NAR by 2010, 100% will use the internet as a part of their home-buying and selection process.

In our business (real estate) we are so blessed to have a flexible lifestyle.  Well if we want one that is.  My wife and I spend about all the time we can with our Grand kids.  We have 5.  Four boys and one girl.  One really tough little girl.  We also have another grandson on the way.  He will be our only daughters first.  I have told my kids before when they say we spoil their kids a little too much.  Much more then we spoiled them.  IN fact according to them they were never spoiled for even as much as one or two seconds.  This coming from kids who went away to college, lived off campus, drove a nice car while at school and never had to come out of pocket for any of it. I tell our kids when they come off with the too spoiled grand kids stuff that if I could have gone straight to the g...

Today was a typical day in my life as a REALTOR.  I started out at the office and made a few trips away from the office on Real Estate business.  But during the course of my business I had the opportunity to speak with two of my three grown children about what we all had planned for the day.  I even made arrangements to house sit for my daughter tomorrow morning for an hour while she takes her dog to be groomed.  She has a delivery of something coming and needs someone to be there during a certain time frame.  I even took one of my grandsons to baseball practice and got to sit an watch.  I did these things all the while working my business.  I had my phone and some phone it is too.  It has everything I need to run my business right there on it.  I can even send email from it. My daughte...

Whether we like it or not the digital age is here to stay.  We can either learn to get along with it or not get along without it.  I must admit that I am a little reluctant to begin getting along with it.  Not because I'm afraid but because everyday something new pops up and I feel like I'm starting all over again.  I'd like to think that I have always been an advocate of change.  However this is change I simply don't understand.  I will eventually but it's like starting my first day in school so many years ago.  I think I remember being excited about the new things I would see and learn but at the same time a little terrified about how I would fit into all that stuff I clearly knew nothing about. If you feel this way about the new digital age I hope this blog will help put some of your...
