Long know as the Mt. Comfort Airport in Hancock County is now to become the Indianapolis Regional airport on Friday. Why the name change? So people can find it. The airport is getting ready for the visitors to the 2012 Super Bowl in Indianapolis, They are hoping that visitors in their private jets will be able to find it. Board members said the Mount Comfort name has lost its identity and can be difficult for pilots to find on maps. They feel that being able to identify with the City of Indianapolis and Central Indiana will be of benefit as the area continues to grow. Indianapolis Regional is planned as a key landing and parking field for hundreds of private jets and other aircraft expected next February.
