This past week October 5th through the 11th is National Fire Prevention Week. Joining in on the event was the Cary Fire Department.  On Tuesday, October 14th from 6:30-8:30 pm they held an open house inviting the public to the station to learn all about fire safety.  My dad, Bill Hauck, is a Cary Fire trustee so he has had this particular event in red on the calendar for weeks, if not months.  I thought what a great opportunity to bring my 3-year-old son, Georgie, to the fire station to meet the firemen and hopefully learn some great safety tips.  So my husband, our son, and I met my parents at the fire station to check it out.   My son wore his fire hat all the way to the station and all throughout the night so we called him "Fireman Georgie."  His eyes lit up as we arrived and walked ...

Here is just a little follow up for all of us who participated in Earth Hour 2008 and information on the 2009 event-GREAT JOB!One Hour, One Planet"Congrats, Chicago! During Earth Hour, Chicago and Northern Illinois reduced their electricity consumption by 7 percent (or 818 megawatt hours)! That's the equivalent of eliminating 1.3 million pounds of carbon dioxide emissions; saving 72,000 gallons of gasoline; planting 158 acres of trees; or taking more than 1 million cars off the road for an hour (courtesy of ComEd). What an accomplishment! But we're not all that surprised. The city of Chicago has amazed us time and time again during the build-up to Earth Hour. We watched with excitement as hundreds of businesses, organizations and individuals signed up to turn down their lights. Thank you...

Very quickly a short sale is something negotiated between the bank, current seller and a buyer to take less money then a seller owes. If successful the debt is erased and is less costly to the lender then a foreclosure.  Takes time and effort. A foreclosure is when a seller walks a way and lets a bank foreclose on the amount owed and sells the home to the highest bidder. The seller is still responsible for the debt if there is a difference. The bank can attach any other property or future earnings.  Both affect personal credit for a period of 4-9 years.  Note: Seek the advice of a attorney and CPA and a good real estate agent!

Spring Migration on the Fox River in Cary, ILI am fortunate enough to live on the Fox River in Cary, IL.  Besides being able to go boating in the summer, all the way up to the Chain of Lakes, there are beautiful views and nature to enjoy year round.I have lived on the Fox River for over 16 years, and over the past couple of weeks I have been getting glimpses of a duck I have never seen before. We do get the biggest variety of birds and waterfowl in spring and summer, when they are migrating through.  Well, I have been trying to get a good enough look at this duck for a couple of weeks and usually by the time I get down to my pier with my binoculars, they move up the river just enough that I can't get a good enough look to identify them.  They are small, black and white and definitely di...

Thursday evening, I had the great pleasure of attending the Cary Grove High School Musical - The Wiz.Oh, my!!!!  Those children are so very talented, it was absolutely incredible!  The show received a 2 thumbs up, well, if I had more thumbs, I would have raised those too.The music!  The Dancing!  The costumes!  The acting!  The Stagecrafters!  So, the economy is taking it's toll on us.  Real Estate sales are down, gas and grocery prices are way up.  So, instead of spending a lot of money for professional entertainment, save yourself some moola and check out the entertainment at your local highschool.I have to figure out a way to help get this word out to our local seniors.  Their ticket price is just $5, a bargain for such awesome entertainment.

Hi world!  This will go down in history as my very first post. Kelly Sibilsky is responsible for getting me started.  She's a great teacher! So, what makes you happy enough to jump for joy?  What will bring a big ole whaaaahoooo out of you? Here's a few of my favorites:A nice day with plenty of sunshine. The first crocus of the spring popping through and spreading their beautiful purple and yellow petals. My family in good moods!  A good mood is quite contagious. Walking through a public place, smiling - watching how that smile spreads.Happy Clients!  My clients become friends for life.  You better believe I want them happy and do what is necessary to really take good care of their needs. It's a great day!  I hope you feel the same. :)

Everyone is getting ready for the Spring Market. The big question is when will it really arrive. The way to get ahead of the spring rush is to put your house on early. Right now in the Cary, Crystal lake, Algonquin and Lake in the hills markets the inventory is still down. The strategy is if the buyers come out they will have less to choose from.
