Recently I had a client ask me the difference between Barrington, South Barrington, North Barrington, and Port Barrington. So I thought this would be a great piece of information for my blog. Lake Barrington is just referring to the Gated community in N. Barrington called the Lake Barrington Shores area. Port Barrington is also a North Western section of Barrington, it was brought into the Barrington community about 10 years ago. It is a newer area that has more affordable homes, less expensive, and smaller lot sizes. Also Port Barrington is by the river. North Barrington is a combination of smaller to 5 acres and more. 2008 was definitely the year of short sales. During 2008 in the entire 60010 zip code there were: 310 Single Family Homes Sold 61 Attached homes sold. i.e. condos and town homes/duplexes. Single Family Stats Out of 310 single family sales 15 were short sales. Out of those 6 were bank owned properties that accepted less than was owed to them, the other 9 were owner occupied and the bank agreed to accept less than owned to facilitate the sale. The price range for all these short sales was $165,000 to $1,600,000. Attached Home Stats Out of the 61 attached home sales, 6 were short sales, all of which were bank owned. The price range for all these short sales was $110,000 to $209,200. In summary In total this represented just over 1 half of a percent of the housing sales in our zip code. ***...

If you are in the market to buy a home in Barrington or any of the areas surrounding it, no doubt you have in your mind some basic ideas as to what you are looking for. Typically buyers have a budget, and then will search based on how many bedrooms and bathrooms they need, with size, yard size and garage count as well. So what do you have in mind when looking for bathrooms? Of course this somewhat depends on the price of the home you are going to buy and also the age. Having lived in Florida for a year, the thing I miss the most is my in ground swimming pool. Of course the temperature was warm enough year round to jump in for a swim.
