Come visit one of North Idaho’s newest family fun attractions.  Silver Streak Zip Lines are now open, they operate 7 days a week starting at 9:30 in the morning.  They have 2 sets of zip lines, the east and the west to choose from and the cost is $75.00 per person.  There is no age restriction but you must weigh at least 95 pounds and no more then 270 pounds to go on the zip line.  The zip lines take you over scenic mountain terrain and at one point you are several hundred feet above the ground.  Plan on spending around 3 hours on the zip lines.  They operate rain or shine and will only  stop running during high winds. As the weather starts to warm up and we dust off our hiking boots we start thinking of fun places to go with the family.  Well maybe you will want to put Settlers Grove of Ancient Cedars on your list.  Start by driving east on I 90 to the Kingston exit, 29 miles east of Coeur d’Alene. Then drive the scenic Coeur d’Alene River Road for 25 miles northeast to Eagle.  Then you will have 5 miles of a gravel road to the grove.   The Grove is a place of serenity, beauty and peace. The paths run alongside  creeks  where you will see moss, cool green foliage, and fallen trees. Floating the North Fork of the Coeur d'alene River is the ticket for a pleasant afternoon with friends and family.  Off the beaten tourist track in the summer, the Coeur d'Alene River attracts hoards of locals with their flotillas of fun.  It's a party on the river!  Young and old, in tubes, kayaks, pontoons, and all manner of rafts, hooked together and gently floating with the slow moving current.  Literally, from babies to seniors and even dogs in life jackets, towing floating coolers with their picnic lunch and cold drinks.  Meandering down the river.  Once in a while someone breaks into song.  Or a baby cries, briefly.  A dog barks, a duck quacks.  Mostly, the sounds are laughter and conversation.  And everyone you pass, or who passes you, is smiling. Ever dream of riding a bike through tunnels (with a miners head lap)?   Well, just outside of Wallace Idaho, there is just such a place to be found.  The trail has 10 tunnels (the longest is the Taft Tunnel at 1.66 miles - the lamp is required!  The one provided by LookOut Pass rental shop clips onto the bike.) and 7 high trail trestles (yes, that's seven).  There are two options for the trail; one is 30 miles long and has an elevation of 2,000 feet OR the other is 17 miles of level and downhill (about 1000 feet in elevation, I think) dirt track and a shuttle bus ride to take you back to your vehicle.  Shuttle tickets range from $6 (kids) - $9 (adult) and Daily Pass rates range from $5 (kids) - $9 (adults).  Kids under 3 are FREE.  The shuttle can be caught at one of two locations eithe... 08/24/2007
