Congratulations younger brother on your milestone of becoming number one in all of Iowa on AR!  Keep up the great work!  Too bad we don't have 48 other brothers in 48 other states.  Also, good thing we don't both live in the same state or we'd be fighting hard to be the best.  On the other hand, maybe that would be better for both of our careers to have that competition. Thanks and "Don't keep me a secret--I'm never too busy for your referrals!"Rob (FREE 2-10 Home Warranty with every home you buy or sell through me!!)Rob Lang, ABR, ePro, GRI Realtor®Rob's Blog at www.ActiveRain.com/blogs/langrobRealty Executives, Hedges Real Estate (four convenient locations)112 E. 10th, Eudora, KS  66025  1037 Vermont, Lawrence, KS  660443300 Clinton Parkway Ct., Lawrence, KS  66044300 Rockfence Place, ...

The city of Davenport, Iowa has a strong City Administrator/Weak Mayor form of government.  She has eight aldermen and two aldermen-at-large.  The eight aldermen represent each of the eight wards in the city while the at-large positions represent the entire city.  Each aldermen have one vote and the Mayor only votes to break a tie.  Their has been talk recently of possibly changing the structure to one with a Strong Mayor.  The elections this fall, on November 6, may shed some light as to how the citizens would like to see the future directed.  The applications for the elected posts are being taken out at a fast pace.  Stay tuned and I'll keep you posted!Lucky LangQuad Cities Favorite Realtor(R)qcfsbr.com

A new Forbes magazine report ranks Davenport, Iowa 25th in the nation for its low cost of doing business. The report - "Best Places For Business and Careers - also ranks Davenport 90th overall among 200 large metro areas. Forbes bases those rankings on economic research firm Economy.com, owned by Moody's. Its business cost index factors in labor, tax, energy and office space costs. For living costs, Economy.com weighs housing, transportation, food and other household expenditures. It also supplied five-year historical figures on job and income growth, as well as migration trends.Other data used in the rankings came courtesy of Portland, Ore., researcher Bertrand Sperling. He looked at the education of each metro's work force as well as the presence of four-year colleges in each area. Sp...

A nice little reminder of Iowa Winters!  Last week the weather was in the 70's and people were doing yard-work!Today, we wake up to snow.  It's not a lot of snow.  In fact it isn't even a nuisance snow (that's when you just shoveled yesterday and you get just even snow the next day that you have to shovel again or it will pack down and become ice on your drive.....and you don't want ICE).It's actually quite beautiful against the landscaping.  The contrast makes a great picture. But it's April, you say?  It's after Easter!  It's not suppose to snow this late?Well, in 1995, on this very same day, April 12th, we got snow.  8 inches of it!!!How would I remember 12 years ago to the day?  It's my daughter's birthday!   HAPPY  BIRTHDAY  AMY !!!       (Sorry about the quality, this picture is i...

In the First Quarter of 2007 there were 115 closed transactions.  In other words, a reduction of 17 transactions or...

"Call Paul" @ (563) 508-1649, 24 Hours a Day, 365 Days a Year!!One of the things that I was taught early on in my Real Estate career was the importance of keeping current, up-to-date, exterior property photos on the MLS (and thus cooperating brokers with upload capacity) websites, on listings that take over 60 days to sell, and especially during the two seasonal changes in which the most dramatic changes in photo appearance occur: Summer into Fall, and Winter into Spring.Nothing screams out "desperate seller" more than an MLS Photo of a home with snow in the yard when the potential purchaser does an Internet search in the month of July... I just changed out the exterior photos on all of my li...
