Aloha with news of Princeville Kauai!May you have a very Mele Kalikimaka – can’t believe next Friday is Christmas already.Here in Maun there is little physical evidence of Christmas, with only an occasional small fake Christmas tree in one or two of the stores and / or Santa’s face painted on the door or window, wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. However, they do take full advantage of the holiday season to get together with friends and family, as most restaurants and many other stores closed as of Thursday the 18th and are closed until the New Year. Princeville, Hawaii Condo Sales Market Report thru September 2015The hot and humid summer and many of the hurricane threats are behind us now and the weather here in Princeville is so much more comfortable.  So how hot was the condo market?The number of sales thru Third Quarter 2015 (71) is about even with the number of sales thru Third Quarter 2014 (70). In 2014 the full year shows that 84 condos sold. So 13 condo sales in Fourth Quarter 2015 will bring us on par with 2014.  Currently there are 11 Princeville condos that are contingent (sale is pending).  The year-to-date 2015 median sales price ($535,000) is well-above the full year median sales price for Princeville condos in 2014. Aloha from Princeville Kauai,This week I DO NOT have any new hurricanes / tropical storms to report, although remnants of both Ignacio and Jimena brought high surf and heavy rains to the Islands, primarily on Oahu and the Big Island. Kauai saw it’s fair share of both and was under a flash flood warning for a period of time, but managed (so far) to escape any real damage.Of course, the storms have continued to bring us extremely high humidity leaving all of us sweltering. It’s a good time to go shopping in an air conditioned store or go to a movie just to escape for a bit.The weather may have been the cause for so many cancelled escrows but it’s really hard to know what causes a transaction to fall apart. Aloha from Princeville Kauai,Not wanting to break from the tradition of the last few weeks, we have yet two new tropical storms / hurricanes to announce since Kilo passed us by. These are now the 14th and 15th tropical storms / hurricanes to share our space in the ocean and I can only trust they will take the same bypass route as their predecessors. Hurricane Ignacio is currently a category 3 and located roughly 420 miles east of Hilo while Hurricane Jimena, a category 4, is still about 1700 miles away, following behind Ignacio! Aloha from Princeville Kauai,It seems every week I’m talking about yet another tropical depression / hurricane that might or might not impact the Hawaiian Islands, and this week is no different. This week’s culprit is known as Kilo and it is currently a tropical depression passing about 400 miles SSW of Honolulu. Let’s hope it keeps on that track.The weather has continued with unseasonably high temps in the 90′s along with extreme humidity and minimal trades.
