Happy Cinco de Mayo - Mexican food in Paia Maui HI If you're looking for some good Mexican food to celebrate Cinco de Mayo today, you have a couple of choices in Paia Maui. Parking rates at Paia Town Center - Paia Maui HI Here in Paia Maui, improvements to the largest parking lot is a mixed blessing.  The paving and the lights are nice, and we all got used to the one way flow of traffic behind Charley's.  What's hard to get used to is the new parking rates with no mercy.  Not even a 15 minute window.  There's now a manned exit station so you MUST PAY on your way out. It used to be you could hardly find a spot to park here, in the rutted old dirt lot behind Charley's Restaurant.  It was either muddy or dusty and not too pretty.  But it was free - a free for all, take your chances, parking lot in the middle of this little beach town.  Now it's almost empty! Parking lot behind Charley's Restaurant reopens in Paia Maui HI  After many months of inconvenience, the parking lot behind Charley's Restaurant opened again on March 7, and it's much improved.  The sewer lines were upgraded before paving took place, contributing to the lengthy process which spanned the holiday season.  Now we also have decent lighting making it a safer place to park at night.  Bring your chump change, as you'll be paying to park in the new and improved lot - which probably explains why it's still mostly empty. You'll notice that it's now become a one-way drive through the entrance where it used to be 2-way on Hana Highway next to the restaurant.  There's no more alley way entry/exit on the Hana Highway either.  The only exit is now on Baldwin Ave where it was before - ... 03/12/2011

A pretty little spot to sit and watch the waves and people coming and going.  You can see them windsurfing and kitesurfing up and down the coast of the north shore here.  Kuau Cove, Paia Maui HI 96779. An outrigger canoe on the lawn, named after Leila. Just walking by the beach at Mama's Fish House Restaurant on a Sunday afternoon on Maui's north shore.  The place is abuzz with hungry and happy tourists, and kama'aina too.  Such a special spot.  See more pics from Kuau Cove. DaKine Hawaii sells clothing and accessories for the surfer crowd. This company started out in Haiku, moved to Hood River Oregon, and was bought out by Billabong a few years ago. Now they've opened a brand new retail store at the corner of Baldwin Ave and the Hana Highway, where Conrad's Ship Gallery was for many years. Blast from the past - Paia Maui Hawaii - December 2010 Puka Puka is a gallery on the Hana Highway at the edge of Paia town.  The architecture is reminiscent of the time when shop owners would live above their retail stores. Old buildings rule in this little beach town on Maui's north shore.  Charley's Restaurant is getting a new pave job in the parking lot right now, which will be a big improvement over the gravel and dirt of yesteryear.
