This is why I moved to Maui Hawaii - the beaches! Well, this was one of the reasons anyway. The beaches here on Maui are so beautiful, and the water is warm. If the waves are up it's really fun to play in the foamy water.  Keawakapu Beach, Kihei Maui HI  One of the nicest beaches on the south shore of the island. I’ve been a landlord for almost 10 years now (wow, time flies) and last Thursday I got my first call from a lawyer. While this is not good news, I would like to squeeze this lemon and make a little lemonade it is the season for Joy and Holiday Cheer after all. Monsanto on Maui - ground zero? Most of you have heard about Monsanto and genetically engineered seeds and crops. Did you know that Monsanto is growing those corn seeds right here on Maui? Besides working for Rentec Direct as the Social Media Director I'm also a landlord and as such I try to pay close attention to the ever changing rental property and landlord/tenant laws. My friend, also a landlord, has a rental property that is currently vacant and she was asking me just yesterday about renting to people on HUD/Section 8 and what the laws are about the requirements to consider Section 8 applicants and getting a rental property "approved" by HUD.  I didn't have all the answers she was looking for but as luck would have it came across an article about The Housing Choice Act which went into effect July 1st, 2014.
