Kailua, the largest community on the Windward side is Oahu's windsurfing capital, and Kailua Beach is one of the world's most beautiful shorelines. Slightly over 50,000 lucky people reside here. They enjoy the relaxed lifestyle in the mid-to-upper priced neighborhoods, with excellent restaurants, outdoor cafes, boutiques, parks, library, fine schools, medical centers, country clubs, and a town area full of personality and charm. In recent years Kailua has become a "secret" destination hot spot for many travelers, including famous people such as Barrack Obama. We call his vacation property "The Winter White House". These famous vacationers are looking for sun, beauty, privacy and relaxation and find it right here in Kailua. Enchanted Lake's is a community in Kailua that surrounds it's "E...

I wrote about the Kailua Whole Foods Market opening on April 18, 2012, before, but today I actually had the chance to take a sneak preview of the inside of the new Whole Foods market in Kailua, during the press tours. When I said that this Whole Foods Market would be one of the best places to hang out, in Kailua (other than gorgeous Kailua Beach, of course), I was right! The Kailua Whole Foods is and will be something else. Besides being a place to shop for healthy groceries, the new Whole Foods Market in Kailua is practically a restaurant, or at least a food court. And we all know Kailua needs more eating choices. There will be a fresh food bar, noodle bar, poke & sushi bar and pizza bar at the Kailua Whole Foods. And a beer and wine tasting bar, as well. And, unlike the Kahala Whole F...

Kailua's Olomana Community is located right off the Pali highway running into Kailua town. So its location is convenient if you work in Honolulu. Olomana sits right below the Koolau Mountains which most homes in that area are exposed to that fabulous view. Most homes in Olomana have larger lots in the 7000-8000 square foot lots, with interiors averaging from 1400-2400 square feet interiors. They are older homes that were built in the 1960's with single wall construction. The current average median price range of these homes are $664,500. I visited a property last Thursday, and thought it would be nice to share. It is listed by Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties. It is a short sale which hasn't been dominent on the Windward side of Oahu, however has a small piece of the market share with...

It's exciting, the new Whole Foods is finally getting ready to open! I, for one, am thrilled, as I can now forego my 40 minute each way trip to the Kahala Whole Foods Store. April 18 is the big day and I am sure the Grand Opening for the Whole Foods Kailua store will be a like a big party in downtown Kailua. They actually are having a pre-Grand Opening Block Party on April 15, from Noon to 5:30 pm. Click here to try and Win Tickets to the Kailua Whole Foods Pre-Grand Opening Block Party.     Whole Foods Market boasts "the finest natural and organic foods available. No artificial colors, flavors, preservatives or added transfats" in the store. "Just fresh and delicious choices to satisfy and delight!" I am looking forward to the fresh food bar, which presents Kailua with a new lunch and ...

Saturday morning in Lanikai:  I'm sure its safe to say that most, if not all people look forward to the weekend! I am no exception. I love the weekends! And for the past 2 years we have been extremely blessed with the opportunity to be spending our weekends at our family home in Lanikai, Kailua. We wake at 6am every morning. My alarm clock is my 2 year old daughter. But I really don't mind at all. She makes her way to my bed in the dark to let me know "the sun's coming up, I wake up! mommy, I'm HUNGRY, lets go downstairs." It's the same every morning.  I take her downstairs and make breakfast, and we sit together at the dining table and watch the sun rise from behind the Mokuluas. These are Lanikai's twin Islands situated about a 1/2 mile from shore, which often are often pictures to  s...

Kailua's Lanikai neighborhood is recognized to have of the most beautiful beaches in the world. A long strip of sparkling white sand, endless sunshine and the deep turquoise water make Lanikai simply irresistable. It is considered by many local residents to be the best swimming beach on Oahu. Many people kayak to the nearby poplular Mokulua Twin Islands, both noted bird sanctuaries. It is also very popular with boaters, surfers, paddlers, and sailors. Lanikai Beach truly lives up to its translated name of "Heavenly Sea". The property that I present to you today is listed by Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties. It is an oceanfront home listed for $5,750,000. It has 20,791 of land, with an interior of 2316 sf. A 4 bedroom 2 bath. Enter the rambling island garden under stately Kamani trees....

Welcome to Kailua's "Affluent & Secluded" neighborhood called "Kaimalino". The location is located just past the Kaneohe Marine Corps Air Base, situated upon Kailua Bay's shoreline. Kaimalino is a small community consisting of only about 10 blocks of homes. You will find that the owners of these properties are well established people such as doctors, lawyers, business owners. Most of the homes on this shoreline are considered "oceanfront" properties. While enjoying the ocean views, you will often see turtles playing in the water. Kaimalino has a small private beach access that local residents enjoy sunbathing in as well as fish for fun and food. The main part of Kailua Beach is just about 1 mile from this neighborhood. Since this neighborhood is a small one, there is rarely properties f...

Welcome to Waimanalo- "Kailua's Country Community" with the best of country living. The Koolau Mountain sites, along with a beach shoreline that is stunningly beautiful! Waimanalo is generally a rural residential neighborhood. It is about a 5 minute drive from the main part of Kailua. Waimanalo offers both affordable family homes and also prestigious, affluent beachfront homes that are just exquisite! Waimanalo is noted for its strong Native Hawaiian culture. There is prescious land there that is secured for native Hawaiians with at least 50% Hawaiian blood, called "Hawaiian Homestead Land". There are farms, nurseries, horse stables, a golf course & small restaurants and grocery stores to accomodate this community. I present to you a lovely "ready to move in" property that is listed by ...

Kailua's Coconut Grove is HOT, HOT, HOT!!!! Its location is in the heart of Kailua that stretches from our Kawainui Marsh to 4+ blocks away from the world renowned famous "Kailua Beach". It is just about the most affordable single family homes available in Kailua. The lots are smaller than the average in Kailua, as well as the interior square footage. Most homes have been built in the 1950's-1960's, however you know what they say....LOCATION, LOCATION!!!  The median price range for Kailua is in the high $700,000's. Coconut Grove current median price range is $564,000. So because of this, investors and home buyers are just waiting for more listings to materialize. I recently had a listing in Kailua's Coconut Grove that sold in 12 days with 7 offers in hand. The list price was $659,000, a...

Aloha my friends! I wanted to give you a taste of "Condo Living in Kailua". Why do I call it "The Snow Bird Way"? Well, we have visitors that are either partially retired, or just plain old well off in life that visit our islands on a regular basis. Who wants to live in sleet and snow? So, these "Snow Birds" have the best of both worlds where they keep their homes where they might have raised their children etc. and just when it gets below their climate comfort zone, they wisp away in the friendly skies to Hawaii for 4-6 months. The most convenient way to do this is to own a condo or townhome. The upkeep of condominiums are minimal, the resort like amenities are right at your fingertips, and at any time all you have to do is lock your door and take off! So here is a little information f...

I am a resident of Aikahi Park for nearly 6 years and I have enjoyed it! It is my kind of town! It's a wonderful quiet community in Kailua that is strategically located next to the KMCAS Base, and only a half mile from the beach. It's elementary school has won many of awards and it has recently built a "state of the art" playground for the neighborhood children to play at. A block and a half away from my house is a small strip mall that has a specialty wine shop, grocery store, along with a few small restaurants that are convenient to have close. As you can see it is a small quaint town, and it is a highly desirable for people to live. There has been 11 listings sold in the past year ranging in price from $650k - $1.2+ milliion. On average just under a million.. The lots are generally 7...

We were all disappointed to see Lucy's disappear from our Kailua, Hawaii Dining scene, but today it was announced (thanks Ericka Engle in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser) that a new restaurant "The Grove" will be opening soon at the old Lucy's location at 33 Aulike Street. The menu is to have a "global" mix and be a nice neighborhood restaurant. The DeAngelos and Antonelis plan to open for dinner service 5-10pm possibly mid-December and bar service from 3pm early in the new year and lunch in the spring 2012. We will keep our eyes peeled for a detailed menu and reviews after they open. I'm hungry already!

Relocating to Hawaii Honolulu consistently ranks in the “Best” lists among major magazines. Fortune Magazine rated Honolulu as the #67 best place to live in 2009.
