From the Kalanianaole Highway, Niu Beach is on the makai, or ocean side and Niu Valley is on the mauka or mountain side. The area may be most famous for being the location for the Pirates of the Caribbean movies with Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp. Both areas consist primarily of single family homes with no condos in this area.
