My Favorite Honolulu Neighborhoods: Koko Kai, in the Hawaii Kai Region of Honolulu The Koko Kai neighborhood is located close to the tip of Koko Head, just around the corner from Hanauma Bay. The area basically rises on the slopes of Koko Head above Portlock Road. With views overlooking Maunalua Bay to Diamond Head, many consider this one of the loveliest neighborhoods and best views on the island. Most of the 190 homes were custom built in the 1970′s, but many have been extensively remodeled and upgraded. Featuring mostly upscale homes, sizes can average 3,000 square feet and lot sizes range from 11,000 to 30,000 square feet.
