My Favorite Honolulu Neighborhoods: Kamehame Ridge, in the Hawaii Kai Region Located toward the mountains from Koko Villas is the hillside community of Kamehame Ridge, where you find excellent views, cooler temperatures and lovely homes. The ridgeline area of development consist of less than 200 homes that were built between 1982 and 1988, most on large lots and a mix of styles. At the bottom oif the ridge is a newer complex called Bali Lofts. These are larger homes, 4,000 square feet or larger, of contemporary design, a kind of Bali island style, most with central air conditioning, high quality materials and other luxury amenities, but with no views. It is said that the name Kamehame comes from the Hawaiian word Hame for tree. View Current Homes for Sale in the Kamehame Ridge Neighborh...

Kamehame Ridge - Oahu - East Honolulu Between Hahaione Valley to the east and Kalama Valley is Kamehame Ridge. It travels high behind Hawaii Kai, near Koko Head and Koko Crater then drops quickly into Kalama Valley. The area is overgrown with California grass, kiawe, and koa haole. Rainfall is generally light, averaging 30–50 in. per year. It is located near the Waimanalo Ridge in East Honolulu. Kamilo Nui and Kamilo Iki are the areas adjacent to Hawaii Kai Drive, as you travel up Lunalilo Home Road, near the skate park. On the water’s edge at the end of Lunalilo Home Road is Portlock. The schools of the Kaiser school complex include Hahaione Elementary School, Kamiloiki Elementary School, Koko Head Elementary School, Niu Valley Middle School, and Kaiser High School. Koko Head Terrace as...

Kamehameha earlier this year took second place at the State Championships behind Mililani High School (My son plays football at Mililani) .  That did not deter them.  They went on the Orlando Florida at Walt Disney World and won the National High School Cheerleading Championship yesterday. The Kamehameha Warriors won the small varsity division with a score of 713 points. The small division is for squads of 12 members or fewer.  This year 56 schools competed in the division.  Kamehameha won by 19.5 points over 2nd place finisher Hazel Green High School. Hamilton High placed third with 683 points, and Madison Central High fourth with 662.5. The Kamehameha Warriors also won the national title in 2003 and 2004.Congratulations to Kamehameha; this is the 2nd National competition the school w...
