In 1793, Port Wentworth was the birthplace to Eli Whitney's cotton gin. It was incorporated in 1957. Now, it is growing and expanding seemlessly without bounds. Currently there are more than 3200 residence. Port Wentworth is located about eleven miles northwest of historic Savannah. It is about 28 square miles in size. Interstate 95, basically, divides Pooler and Port Wentworth. If you take a right off an I-95 exit, you are in Port Wentworth.
