The Newnan Court Square is the crown jewel of the area featuring a variety of shops, restaraunts and fun things to do.  Leaf and Bean coffee is my favorite spot to grab a latte' and work on my blog or catch up on reading.  This is the first blog entry of many to come after rebranding from Spokanereblog to Georgiareblog, that will feature local activities, attractions, outdoor places to visit and of course inmportant information about the are real estate market. This is me when I was a 10th Grader at Newnan High School taken from the bell tower of the court house.  It doesn't get more Newnan than this!     08/21/2021

The Calendar may say that it’s early November, but the thermometer looks more like it should be early January. With temperatures falling into the low 20’s tonight, Newnan GA will be about ten degrees colder than Juneau Alaska. It’s also a “chilling” reminder that the days of 2013 are dwindling, and that the holiday season is just around the corner and that 2014 is not far behind. The clock always seems to accelerate from mid-November through New Years Day, and I’m looking forward to the frenzy of festivities that are about to descend upon us. Situated thirty miles Southwest of Atlanta, Newnan Georgia combines the charm and ambience of an antebellum village with all of the conveniences and amenities of a big city. The historic Newnan Downtown Square hasn’t changed very much over all of the years, but there have been some changes. Since the opening of the New Justice Center on the south side of town, the old courthouse now houses some minor agencies and the Newnan / Coweta County Visitor Center. We are expecting a hard freeze in Newnan Georgia tonight. It’s a bit early for freezing temperatures here in the South. We usually don’t see weather this cold until early December. And so I had to go outside and harvest the last of the Summer vegetables. I’ll pickle the peppers tomorrow and place the last tomatoes on the window sill to ripen. It’s also a good reminder to get my business plan for 2014 in order. With just over two months left before the New Year, the time for preparation is waning quickly.   And since I’ll be spending less time tending the garden, I need something to keep me busy anyway! 10/25/2013

The 2013 Kiwanis Coweta County Fair runs from Thursday September 19 through Saturday September 28. Located at the Coweta County Fairgrounds and Conference Center, the annual event is among the county’s most popular events and draws visitors from near and far. There are the traditional exhibits and competitions, but the main draw is the carnival midway that features plenty of rides, tasty food, and other games and attractions. Admission is $5 but there are plenty of promotions. You can get complete details about hours of operation, events and the Mega Pass at the Kiwanis Coweta County Fair Website. I did something today I haven’t done in August in all of the forty years that I have been living in Georgia. I turned the heat on in my car! This is Newnan Georgia for crying out loud, not Seattle Washington. Augusta Maine or Anchorage Alaska! We have been experiencing record “low highs” over the past few days and while temperatures are still in the sixties the blowing rain makes it feel a lot colder. We are certainly more accustomed to record highs in August than these record low highs! It feels positively chilly.   And I could use a cup of hot coffee. 08/17/2013

Market Day in Newnan Georgia is the first Saturday of every month. The Old Courthouse Square will be surrounded with vendors offering everything from local agricultural products to handmade crafts and folk art. The scene will be enhanced by strains of local street musicians (including yours truly) that add to the general gaiety of the festival. The Newnan Coweta Board of Realtors Home Expo is today, April 11 2013. The Expo features vendors from every facet of the real estate profession, from mortgage lenders, to home inspectors, to home improvement services. Saturday April 6 2013 is Market Day in Newnan Georgia! The Old Courthouse Square will be transformed into a bazaar with vendors purveying local products, tasty treats, and unique and unusual crafts. In addition, the once a month event coincides with “Pickin’ on the Square” which provides a wonderful background of acoustic music. I will be playing on the East Courthouse Steps from 11:00 A.M. until 1:30 P.M. with some of my fellow music enthusiasts, so please come by and say hello. The caller from out of state said that they could spend up to $300K. After having them chat with a Georgia loan officer, I set up some houses for them to see on their visit. As it turns out, they were surprised that the house that they were looking for was not in the $300,000 price range. What they needed and wanted was priced at HALF of that amount. Snow in time for Christmas is a rare event in Newnan andCowetaCountyGeorgia. But it can happen and a few years back we had a significant snowfall on Christmas day. And while we will not experience a white Christmas in 2012, there is a slight chance for some wet flurries by next week.
