There are shopping centers and then there are shopping experiences. Newnan's Ashley Park is an excellent example of combining commerce with a visual explosion of floral color and greenery. There is something here for everyone, from the 14 Theater multiplex Regal Georgian to the giant margaritas at La Parilla. Add to that the amazing landscaping with every sort of seasonal blooming flora that are replaced throughout the year to ensure continuous color. You can enjoy a quick and delicious burger at Five Guys before an afternoon of upscale shopping at Dillards or an ice cream treat at the Cold Stone Creamery. There are also boutique shops, apparel stores and a Barnes and Nobles bookstore. Some of the latest tenants to open their doors are Aeropostale and Mama Lucias' Italian Restaurant. If...

Due to new home sales winding down in SG, the unit decrease this yr is over 46%.  Compounded with last year's 22% loss, sales are down almost 70% from the '06 high water mark.  April saw only 4 new and 8 resales sold for a total of 12 sales with a May 1 inventory of 200 homes for sale representing a 10 month supply.  There's been a slight drop in avg prices this year of 2.4%.   With only a handful of new homes selling each month which goes to support several new home sales people is the primary reason the Newnan Home Source is imploding on itself with agents leaving in droves.   To view the full SG Mkt Watch Report, go to:   http://SummerGrove.BushRealEstateGroup.com     Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec Total Gain % Gain 2005 18 21 33 27 33 35 47 30 28 32 26 31 361 2 0...

Downtown Newnan Georgia is a vibrant and robust business center, with shops, restaurants and services for citizen and visitor alike. It's also a great place for an afternoon or evening walk, with broad sidewalks and excellent traffic control. One of the most interesting facets of downtown Newnan is the number of historic buildings still standing, Many were constructed in the 19th century, and still retain their charm and unique style. If you wish to plan a walking tour of Newnan, a map listing the merchants is available from Mainstreet Newnan. It's a great guide for getting around town, There is also plenty of free parking in the area. Even though I live in the area, I still enjoy walking the streets of Newnan, and I discover something new every time I visit. It's a piece of living hist...

Country Music Superstar Alan Jackson returned to his hometown, Newnan Georgia, on Tuesday April 29 to sign autographs of music CD's and his wife, Denise Jackson's latest book: "It's All About Him: Finding the Love of My Life." The line extended out the door of downtown's Scott's Book Store and down the street, as friends and fans waited up to two hours to spend a few seconds with Newnan's most famous native son. Alan and Denise were as cordial and friendly as could be under the circumstances, as they tried to accomodate everyone's desire for autographs and photos. However, the weather was nearly perfect, and the crowd was orderly, and everyone seemed to enjoy spending the afternoon outside with other Alan Jackson devotees. Afterwards, the Jackson waved to the crowd as he climbed into hi...

Greenville Street Park in beautiful downtown Newnan Georgia celebrated its official grand opening on Friday night, April 18 2008. The park was opened in grand style with a free public jazz concert in the new outdoor amphitheater. The weather was perfect, and the music was light and smooth. The laid back crowd relaxed and enjoyed the ambiance of the new facility combined with the sweet strains of music. The concert was held in conjunction with the 2008 Spring Art Walk on the courthouse square, and was followed on Saturday April 20 with the Spring tour of homes. The event was sponsored by MainStreet Newnan, a trade association of downtown merchants. If you haven't been to downtown Newnan lately, do pay a visit. It is alive and vibrant, with lots of unique shops and restaurants that are s...

Historic Downtown Newnan Georgia, The City of Homes Newnan, Georgia as established in 1828, Shortly after Creek Chief William McIntosh ceded Creek lands East of the Chattahoochee River. In retaliation, McIntosh was murdered by members of his own tribe. Coweta County was named for the Coweta (Kawita) band of the Creek Nation, and the County seat was named Newnan in honor of General Daniel Newnan, A Georgia Secretary of State and United States Congressman, Just South of the City is "Buena Vista," and antebellum mansion c 1838. Newnan was a confederate hospital city, and did not see fighting during the civil war, leaving these treasures behind for us to enjoy today! Newnan was spared the torch of William Tecumseh Sherman, and therefore many antebellum structures remain. It's old courthous...

It was a perfect day in Newnan, Georgia. Yes, it is indeed the first day of Spring, but that is an arbitrary word assigned to the day during which a specific astronomical event occurs. But that in itself, did not make the day perfect. No, it was a perfectly crisp, cool and clear day following rainstorms that cleansed the air of particulates and pollution! The sun shone gloriously, and late in the afternoon, I turned off the computer, left the office, and headed for downtown Newnan. I am, after all, a photography buff. When you love photography, you learn to sense when the light is good. Light is the foundation of everything photographic, and when the air is clean and pristine, the day cool, and before the trees bear their leaves, the light is perfect for outdoor subjects. And downtown N...

Who is the world would want to eat a chili-cheese dog with onions AND raw oysters at the same time? Well, that question is answered every day at a small hole-in-the-wall in downtown Newnan, Georgia.I mean, this place is cool! It's deep and narrow and has the longest counter in town, lots of stools, and a few small tables for two. The menu is a weird combination of oysters, hot dogs and pulled pork sandwiches. It's not a glamorous chain restaurant, just a mom and pop store on a side street with nice people and great oysters! It's nice to live in a small town with a courthouse square, local shops, and interesting food. And if you go to Newnan in Coweta County Georgia, take someone you like to share the experience. You will not be disappointed.C 2008 Coweta Fayette Real Estate, Inc.

We hit 70 degrees today in Newnan Georgia, and I took advantage of it. I pulled the top back on my red Miata and took off across the county. Although my bliss was interrupted by one property showing and getting my numbers together for the Million Dollar Club application, I was able to spin around from subdivision to subdivision and seeing something I haven't seen for a while.Buyers! Real live buyers were out and about and house hunting. Ah,  the real estate business in Coweta County is alive and well, albeit we'll be making lower offers, many of them to the bank's REO department, but hey - a sale is a sale!So for those of you in colder climates - prepare yourself! When the snow melts, you'll have buyers. Lots of them. In the meantime, finish that CE you've been putting off and why not g...

The economy is on everyone's mind these days, and residents of Coweta County GA, a bedroom community near Atlanta, are no exception. The county seat, Newnan, could be like any other small town in the United States. We have our quaint downtown square, which is still alive and robust, with nice little shops and eateries, and we have our "strip" section, with Wal-Mart, Best Buy, the chain restaurants and and all of the other "this could be anywhere" stores. What isn't so readily apparent, is that the economy of Coweta County is hurting, because one of its major industries is suffering. Building and development has been the mainstay of our labor force for about the last ten years. Now that we have an 18 month supply of new homes on the ground, there are very few new projects being started...

Regarding using Microsoft Publisher  . . . I just posted a blog How I Do My Graphics on how I use this software program for graphics (and just about everything else I do!)  But I didn't mention that it is also excellent to mark your photos that you post.  (NOT that they'd ever be stolen, right!)But just in case, here's a sample of what I do.  I recently designed and printed this for a BNI meeting.  The 1920's house was a remodel from another BNI member and I wanted to show of his great work, (complimented by mine of course)!  I put the whole document together in Publisher.  But before I did, I identified my work on the after pictures.  Easy, Easy, to do in Microsoft Publisher!  Another good reason besides newsletters, postcards, mailings, stationary, envelopes, brochures, business cards...
