Sweetwater Middle School held an instore book fair at the Barnes and Noble on Pleasant Hill today.   The event was well attended, with stories being read and staff talking to community members. Students were rewarded for completing a summer reading program. Their principal, Ms. Eaton and many other teachers and staff members were in attendance.  Their staff is dedicated to teaching and learning and follows their principals enthusiasm to being excellent. There was an interesting experiment that started with five monkeys in a cage. A banana hung inside the cage with a set of steps placed underneath it. After a while, a monkey went to the steps and started to climb towards the banana, but when he touched the steps, he set off a spray that soaked all the other monkeys with cold water. Another monkey tried to reach the banana with the same result. Statewide ban on texting while driving goes into effect July 1. The Georgia State Patrol will observe a 30-to-60 day grace period in which any violations encountered will usually result in a warning. If cited for violating the new law, a driver may pay a $150 fine and will incur a penalty of one point on his/her license.  The newly minted law faces an uncertain legal future on several fronts.
