Lake Lanier is an Army Corp of engineers lake. It is the largest man made lake East of the Mississippi. It has also been the subject of water wars between Georgia, Alabama. and Florida. At the heart of the wars is the use of water from the Lake for the City of Atlanta. When the Lake was first built use by Atlanta was NOT included in the plan. This is a big oops!  Recently the courts have ruled that Atlanta has 3 years to find an alternate supply of water. What does this all mean? Well the fight has been going on for 22 years at least and I am not sure it will end in 3 years. Georgia is trying to get Atlanta included in the use of the water. This makes total sense to me.
