Union County, GA has some great outdoor activities here in the North GA mountains and the Butternut Creek Golf Course is just one of them. These are the views of the course from the Community Center. We have our Northeast GA Board of Realtors monthly meetings here and the food is always fabulous.   The Community Center also has the Tourism/Pro Shop, The View Grill, Confrence Rooms and Banquet Room as well as the Union County Chamber of Commerce. A wonderful setting and venue for all occasions. Enjoying the four mild seasons in the mountains is just one of the things we love most about living here. Sherman with new 911 emergency dock signs The Lake Nottely Improvement Association has joined with the Department of Natural Resources and the Union County Sheriff's Department as it introduces an Emergency 911 Dock Identification program. UC Commissioner Lamar Paris has offered his full support of the program. DNR Lake Patrol Officer, Kevin Dyer, suggested the non-mandatory program after witnessing the devastating effects of a tornado which destroyed 54 homes and claimed two lives at Lake Burton, 25 miles east of Blairsville. Dyers stated, "The 10 pm tornado cut all power and road access to victims; our only means of rescue was from lakeside. LNIA Supports HRWC Lake Nottely Improvement Association Board Members, Diane Dominick, Lynn Varian and Henry Dominick present check to Callie Moore, HRWC Executive Director.   LNIA is supporting the Hiwassee River Watershed Coalition's 2013 summer day camp for kids. The mid-July "A Day at the C.R.E.E.K.", or,  Creative Recreational and Environmental Education for Kids is a free one day camp for 6th-8th graders. The fun filled day will educate kids about basic water quality science, aquatic life, behavior that protects water quality and will promote  career opportunities in sciences. GACHE Reality Store Union County High School is the proud recipient of a grant from Georgia Appalachian Center for Higher Education (GACHE). The GACHE grant allows high schools to implement strategies that encourage and assist at-risk students to continue their education beyond high school.    On Tuesday, November 20th from 8am-11:20am all UCHS ninth grade students will participate in a Reality Store.  A minimum of 40 volunteers is needed to staff this reality event.
