Sunday Reflections - Reflections in Glass   This piece of glass art caught my eye at an art show in Weeki Wachee, Florida.  The artist assembled an array of glass baubles and small irregular pieces of art glass into a new colorful show piece.  Each one of these on their own would have not been much noticeable but as a unit, each had its place contributing to making the whole piece shine.  It was a great day and the sun reflected nicely in the glass! This reminded me that we are all unique, somewhat "irregular" if you will, yet, we still we all fit nicely into the big picture called life! Enjoy your Sunday!   02/23/2013

Video - 2012 Christmas Boat Parade in Weeki Wachee, Florida    The annual Weeki Wachee Christmas boat parade is a fun event in this Hernando County waterfront community.  Boats gather at Rogers Park for judging before they parade down the Weeki Wachee river to Bayport and the Gulf of Mexico.   There is always a big crowd that gathers at Rogers Park and the "Upper Deck" restaurant and bar across the river cheering as the boats pass by.  There were quite a few great entries this year, the following short video shows off just a few of them.   Enjoy and Merry Christmas!       Video - 2012 Christmas Boat Parade in Weeki Wachee, Florida    12/20/2012

Foto Friday:  Smoke in Chassahowitzka Wildlife Area | Weeki Wachee Florida   As I was driving down the road in Weeki Wachee, Florida, this afternoon, I came upon this scene in front of me.   Smoke was wafting across the road and the smell of burning wood was in the air.  Emergency vehicles were parked alongside the road with flashing lights.   The smoke was coming from the Chassahowitzka Wildlife area in Weeki Wachee, Florida, and I spotted a few more emergency vehicles as well as some fire fighters as I carefully drove on.   Luckily, I found out later that this was a controlled burn and there was no danger to nearby residential areas.  Controlled burns are designed to keep down the brush that would be the fuel in the event of a real wildfire.  It also helps to clear areas and create be... 11/30/2012

Weeki Wachee River Christmas Boat Parade | Weeki Wachee | Florida The 27th annual Weeki Wachee River Christmas boat parade takes place on Saturday, December 8, 2012 Location:  Rogers Park, 7244 Shoal Line Blvd, Weeki Wachee, Florida Boats will depart from the park area at 6:30 pm.  This is the largest boat parade in the area with boats being judged for the best decorations.  The parade will follow the Weeki Wachee river to Bayport, turn around and return to Rogers Park.  The Upper Deck Restaurant at Rogers Park will have an after-party and also provide a great vantage point for seeing all the decorated boats depart.  Boaters can call the Weeki Wachee Marina at 352-506-2852 to enter the parade.  The area's boat parades are a great holiday activity representing waterfront living!   Weeki ... 11/24/2012

Weeki Wachee Hosts Hernando County New Residents Reception The annual Hernando County New Residents Reception took place today at beautiful Weeki Wachee Springs State Park.  With temperatures in the low 80s, the weather was just right for a leisurely stroll through the park grounds and talking to the many businesses and vendors that were present to introduce themselves and their services.  Live entertainment by local entertainer Teri Lyons rounded out the experience.  The event was sponsored by the Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce.   10/25/2012

Return of the Mermaids at Weeki Wachee Springs this Weekend!
