Trinity, FL -Timber Greens. Our Red-shouldered Hawk is still here, I think this is Mrs. Hawk because she's darker than he is, not so many pretty white and brown spots on front. She was sitting up in the tree, looking around for a snack; stayed there quite a while too (even when I went out to take her picture). She just gave me that Hawk-eye and then decided I was much too big for her! See previous post       For Info on Timber Greens: Call Craig or Toni Weidman of Re/Max Sunset 727-359-9518 or 727-237-0083 (We live in Timber Greens).

Trinity, FL-Timber Greens -  We have a mating pair of Pileated Woodpeckers every year. It is very difficult to get pictures of them because they usually don't come close to our home but if you look really carefully, you will see the two of them looking for bugs on the tree. Mainly you can see their red cockades. They raise their young in a hole in a tree. I have also seen their two offspring who look almost identical to them at this point.  For more info about Timber Greens call Craig or Toni Weidman 727-359-9518 or 727-237-0083. The Pileated is the largest woodpecker and usually is about 16-20". They make rectangular shaped holes in dead trees (large rectangular holes). A pair will stay together in their own territory so I guess that means that the woods behind our house is their terr...

Timber Greens- New Port Richey. Fourth of July Call Craig or Toni Weidman 727-237-0083  for Timber Greens Info. Okay, it was the Fourth of July in Timber Greens and you were expecting maybe an eagle, but this beautiful Red-shouldered Hawk was prancing around on my neighbors bushes. He had a hawk-eye out for the anoles hiding in them. I took a picture of him on the bushes but then he decided to give me an even better picture to take. I think he's gorgeous (so does he). He was our Fourth of July gift.

Timber Greens-Trinity, FL - We have lots of wildlife including many squirrels. Right now, we have several babies running around like crazy. This adult decided that there was much too much going on down below where the babies were jumping around in my Geraniums, so he/she decided to visit the birdfeeder. It was easier to just sit on the Spider plant and stretch over. The Spider plant seems to make a great stool. I had to shoot through the screen, otherwise he/she would have taken off, so it's a little blurry.

Trinity, FL- Timber Greens on the golf course.  We watched this Great Egret for quite some time on a sunny Sunday in the very early morning hours. At this point, he seems to be enjoying looking at his reflection in the pond; I don't blame him: he is a handsome fellow (or girl, as the case may be-it is hard to tell because males and females are identical in appearance). The Great Egret or Great White Egret is found across much of the world, from southern Canada south to Argentina, and in Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. Actually a white heron, the differences between them are vague, it is known as the Great Egret because it is  the largest egret in the world. However, there is a white form of the Great Blue Heron which is even larger. Once known here as the American Egret, the name w...

We were enjoying the early morning sights and sounds in our back yard when along came Mom and Dad Sandhill with their two new babies. Sandhill Cranes are fantastic parents and guard their children very carefully. The kids were running all over and modeling their parents searching for food (lizards, toads, insects). Unfortunately, we also have crows in the area: last season a baby was killed and eaten by crows despite the parents attempts to fight them off.
