Fred Howard Park in Tarpon Springs Florida is located along the shores of the Gulf of Mexico and the park’s beach is actually an island that is connected by a mile long causeway to mainland. The park is 155 acres of tropical paradise that includes nine picnic shelters and six restroom facilities. If you are interested in reserving one of the shelters for a birthday party or other event, be sure to make your reservations early since our local parks are popular venues for such events. Two playgrounds, a ball field and launch areas for your kayak are also available in this family orientated park. The beach offers pure white sand and bathing in the sparkling waters of the gulf. T...

Tarpon Springs, FL - Santa, Reindeer, and Snow - Oh My! Last night was “Snow Place Like Tarpon Ave” in downtown Tarpon Springs, FL. I have never seen that many people on Tarpon Avenue for an event before. It was a great event and we met up with friends from all over.It was hard to believe we found each other in the crowd. The reindeer had their furry faces painted and looked like they were resting up for Christmas Eve; the kids were so excited to see them; Santa did some line-dancing, and the snow came down. There were lots of arts and craft vendors, all the antique stores were open, and the restaurants had tables out in the street. It was crazy and fun.  The slide show runs for 45 seconds.   I didn't realize Reindeer had such tiny feet :) no wonder they make such a clatter. How can they...

The Tarpon Springs Florida Epiphany Fest (Theophany) takes place every January and begins at St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church on North Pinellas Avenue. The date of January 6 was chosen by the Orthodox Church because it was the birthdate of Aeon, patron god of Alexandria. The Gnostics of the early church had designated Christ as one of the Aeons. The Western Church determined that the Epiphany commemorates three events: the birth of Jesus, the visit of the three Wisemen (believed to be Zoroastrian astrologers from Persia) and the miracle of Cana, which was turning water into wine. The nativity was brought to the East from the West and was designated to be celebrated on December 25. This was about fifty years after the date was set for Epiphany. Further research indicates that the Church...

It is the 34689 zip code of Tarpon Springs that runs along the shores of the Gulf of Mexico and around the Sponge Docks. Unique Art & Antiques in Tarpon Springs FL I love rocking horses; older is better so I look at them in antique stores when I go. I think I took this picture of the Pelican Rocking Horse at Carter’s Antique Asylum or perhaps the Court of Two Sisters in Tarpon Springs. He is just so sweet and looks old but I suspect he isn’t.  He’s just a unique piece that would look good anywhere. The many antique stores in Tarpon Springs are interesting and full of unique and unusual items. You can spend a whole day there "antiquing" But if you're thinking of buying or selling a home in the area, call Toni and Craig Weidman Re/Max New Dimensions 727-237-0083 or 727-359-9518 Selling West Pasco and North Pinellas for 21 years email: HomesbyToni@gmail.com A Market Analysis is free and confidential   Recent...

Today we had our ActiveRain MeetUp in Tarpon Springs Florida at Rusty Bellies Waterfront Restaurant. There was a detour on Dodecanese Blvd on the Sponge Docks since the Anclotte River was overflowing, but we managed to maneuver around it and get to our destination. With the combination of the winds from Isaac still blowing the water toward shore, high tides and a full moon approaching, the Gulf of Mexico and the Anclotte River have decided that some of the local streets need salt water in them.............. Still, we met and had a wonderful time at Rusty Bellies. On hand was Silvia Dukes, Jeanne Gavish, Toni and Craig Weidman, Fred Hernden, Steve Pahl, Kelly Dixon and of course, I was there as well. Steve Pahl arrived a little late, but better late than never. Fred came on his shiny red...

Rusty Bellies Waterfront Grill in Tarpon Springs Florida was my destination today, to meet Jeanne Gavish for lunch. Jeanne is a fellow ActiveRainer and a friend, so this was something I was definitely looking forward to! We met outside, in the outside bar section directly on the water. There was a cool breeze blowing, so it was comfortable, and we had a great lunch. Both of us had fresh grouper, Jeanne had it with black beans and rice while I had my grouper with a tossed salad. If you have never visited Rusty Bellies Waterfront Grill in Tarpon Springs Florida, you definitely need to check it out!
