Construction of the New Gas Station is finally completed and the station is open for business. The new gasoline station is located on the Wal-Mart property located at the corner of State Road 674 and US Hwy. #301. The price of regular unleaded was $3.59 a gallon this morning. If you use a Wal-Mart credit card there is an additional $.03 per gallon discount. I told the cashier when she offered me an application for their credit card that I wasn't interested because another credit card would mean writing one more check every month. She informed me that their credit card payments may be made at the checkout when cashing out regular in store purchases. So, maybe the additional discount would be favorable after all.

Security Patrol  of Sun City Center is staffed by volunteers. Their cars patrol our community roads seven days a week . These efforts have helped to make SCC one of the safest communities  in the State.         Residents are encouraged to do their part. Take the time to make your home safe. Keep all doors closed and locked, especially the over head garage door.      That open garage door is an invitation for a thief to make off with your golf clubs, expensive tools, perhaps your car or golf cart.             There’s also a good chance that if the main garage door is open, the service door into the house is unlocked. What an opportunity for a criminal to move in and look for cash, jewelry or other items.             In the summer some people like to leave their garage doors open in orde...

Living in Sun City Center, Florida has it's perks.  We are so close to so many of the Theme Parks, and major Florida attractions.   I was going through some pictures today, looking for one a friend had asked me to send her. While searching my thousands....and I do mean thousands of pictures I came across a couple of a white peacock I took a couple years ago, and thought I would share. These pictures were taken at Busch Garden in Tampa.  The peacocks wander the park freely, and it's not unusual to see them proudly showing their beautiful plumage. The shot is a bit blurry    On this particular day, the White Peacock was sitting up in a tree, and I snapped what I thought was a pretty good shot. To my amazement and delight this beautiful bird jumped down from the tree, saw the other peacoc...

The public can express their opinion at meetings scheduled to take place on Monday, July 14, 2008.Hartline buses are now providing service several times a day back and forth along Sun City Center Boulevard (to Wal-Mart) on what is known as Bus Route 87, with additional service to the Brandon Town Center (mall) on Bus Route 35LX. A third service focuses more on points to the west and north of Sun City Center. There is a proposal to eliminate Bus Route 35LX. The changes being planned are:           Route 87 - "SouthShore Connector" would be converted to HARTflex service.           The Route would be simplified with fewer time points and stops. Customers may          call in advance for a pick-up/drop-off within the service area. Former 35LX           patrons may be transported to meet Rou...

Reviewing our office productivity for the first six months of 2008 as compared to the same period in 2007 was a lesson of the times. We enjoyed the same number of closings in both years, status quo in the current market isn't all that bad, however the dollar volume was down by 2.2 million in 2008. Being a Sno-Bird community, our market is normally seasonal, (November to April) however we continue to enjoy a moderately good flow of buyers.  It appears that buyers recognize prices are at or near their low and are taking advantage of the market. We anticipate current price level will hold until early fall. Once the "Season" begins pricing trends may be on the rise. Currently inventory levels are closer to the area's normal Level which is reducing the average days on the market.

I received a call the other day (wednesday) from some folks from across the Bay.  They had read an Article about Sun City Center in their local paper and had a few questions. We talked for several minutes, and I answered all his questions to his satisfaction.   He then told me that I had done good, and now my next job was to convince him and his wife that Sun City Center was a place they would like to live.  They would be looking for a 1 or 2 Bd condo, minimum 1 1/2 bath and they needed a pet area for 50k - 60k.  They would come by the following day (thursday) sometime in the late morning if I could be available to show them some of the highlights of our community. I told him that I would be available to spend as much time as they wanted or needed.   After hanging up, I gathered togeth...
