20th Annual National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive The United States Post Office, local letter carriers, and Feeding South Florida Saturday May 12,2012 The Largest one day food collection event in the nationlast year 70.2 million pounds of food was collected Residents place a bag containing non perishable food items next to their mailboxes and  the letter carriers will collect the bag when delivering the mail. The food will then be taken to the food bank, sorted and distributed to nearly 600 nonprofit organizations to feed the hungry.
