Created from the spoils of the original dredging that were deposited on a shoal in Lake Worth. This beautiful island isnow known as Peanut Island. 79 acre county park which has 19 boat slips boat dock,40 grills,60 picnic tables,6 pavillions, 20 campsites and a 170' Fishing pier. For years Peanut Island housed the Coast Guard Station from 1936 to 1995. During the Kennedy Administration, a bomb shelter for the president was built on the island for his use when he vacationed at his family's estate in Palm Beach.
