Yet it is it's own island and has a distinct feel. As soon as one crosses the north bridge on Siesta Drive to Siesta Key, they are on Bay Island. Sandy Hook, Siesta Key, Sarasota, Florida Sandy Hook is one of Siesta Key's most prestigious subdivisions. In a word, location. On the northern end of Siesta Key Beach and a short walk to Siesta Village, residents are very happy to be lucky enough to call this community home. Most of the original homes were built in the late 1950's, but many have been remodeled, update or torn down to make way for a new home. Many of these Sarasota homes are beachfront or have easy access to the pass. The beach access is second to none, and leads to breath taking views of Big Pass, Longboat Key and the Gulf of Mexico. Shell Beach, Siesta Key, Sarasota, Florida   When people think of real estate on Siesta Key, distance to the beach is always a concern. What many people do not realize is that there are other beaches other than world famous Siesta Key Beach. One of the most beautiful, and hidden, is Shell Beach, a great option in Sarasota homes!   Located on the north end of Siesta Key, Shell Beach is smaller than Siesta Key public beach by a long shot; however, its raw beauty and deserted feel make this an excellent option for those seeking the quieter residential options that the north Key has to offer. The beach is actually located on the channel between Siesta and Lido Keys, and offers stunning views of the water and south Lido Beach park across the channel.   The Shell beach area has everything fro...

Royal Palm Harbor, Siesta Key, Sarasota, Florida   Siesta Key real estate is defined by private enclaves and tucked away streets that give way to awesome water views. Royal Palm Harbor is no exception. Located just east of the Midnight Pass/Beach Road split, Royal Palm Harbor is nearly invisible from the street. The community consists of just two narrow roads, in some cases it is impossible for two cars to pass one another. However, these are two of the most beautiful streets in Sarasota, with low overhanging tropical foliage, old growth trees and glorious shade.   The homes in Royal Palm Harbor, like many places on Siesta Key, range from old time beach cottages to modern, huge estate homes. However ,this dichotomy seems less glaring than in other places, due to the lush landscaping th...

Once again, stunning Siesta Key Beach was honored by Dr. Beach, world renowned beach-rater-guy. This year he claimed we were #2 behind a beach in Southampton, Long Island. Oddly enough, I used to live there. So I know both beaches well. I suspect that Dr. Beach simply doesn't want to bore readers by continually giving Siesta Key top honors; that being said Coopers Beach is pretty nice too. However, lets take another gander at that list in February, and see which beach we like better...I'll bet some people will be ready to buy some Siesta Key real estate. *********** I liken it to survivors guilt. Florida residents know the feeling well - the relief that the hurricane passed you by is replaced quickly by the angst for your neighbors to the north or south who are enduring calamity. But fo...

Sandy Cove enjoys a fortuitous location just north of the newly refurbished Siesta Key Village. Situated directly on Big Pass, residents enjoy expansive views of the Gulf of Mexico, as well as vistas of the south end of Lido Key. Sandy Cove is secluded and private, with its own small beach, but it does not offer access to the wide Siesta Key beaches. The complex is better known for big water views and a resident only fishing pier, which affords some of the best fishing around given its location in the channel. Sandy Cove is a pet-friendly condominium, which is a refreshing change. The community clubhouse has a kitchen, living room area and card room for residents. As if the Gulf isn't water enough, many units are on a lovely lagoon. Think Siesta Key couldn't get any more beautiful? Don'...

Buyers of Sarasota real estate usually have to choose between the big shaded lot and the beach lifestyle. Not so at the well respected and established Sanderling Club, the grand dame of gated communities on Siesta Key. This entire subdivision hearkens back to another era. Wih some homes built as far back as the 1940's, the Sanderling Club is one of the more special subdivisions in Sarasota. Located on directly on the beach on southern Siesta, the neighborhood also has lush tropical foliage and huge mature shade trees. It is the only single family home community with a 24 hour manned security gate on the Key. Spacious homes on large wooded lots prove that you can have both a parklike setting and the expansive white sands of world famous Siesta Key. Many homesites are on wide lagoons brim...

I recently showed a property on a beautiful street on Siesta Key. What many people do not realize having seen the photos of the vast expanses of white sand beaches, is that large areas of Siesta are actually very lush and treelined. This was one of those areas. It was beautiful Key West style home, with a wrap around porch overlooking the tropical pool, and beautiful wood floors throughout. We often don't see this type of home for this price point out on the Key - roughly $500K.    Although well within their price range, my buyers suspected the home was overpriced. After all, they reasoned, isnt everything these days? Actually, the home was priced UNDER market value. But sometimes in this market, it is hard to accept that you can't get another 30% off the price of the home...so they ask...

When I moved to Sarasota nearly a decade ago, armed with my set budget and down payment, I had dreams of Siesta Key. After all, it was a stretch of white sand beach that convinced me to move here in the first place. At the time, when I asked the realtor if I could have a water view, they laughed and asked me if I meant a swimming pool! I live on Palmer Ranch, which was an excellent decision for me. The schools are fantastic, we love our home, and we are only 10 minutes from - you guessed it - the white sands of Siesta Key. That was a huge deciding factor for me. I go out to the beach nearly every night for my walk, and I couldn't imagine living in Sarasota without access to Siesta. Now that prices are lower on Siesta Key, I encourage people to move out there. There are many who would di...
