Main Street Renovations Coming This Summer   Downtown Sarasota's Main Street will be getting a facelift this summer. Wider, brick sidewalks, new landscaping including towering new trees, new lighting, repaved streets, and parallel parking are all part of these renovations. The project begins this July and they plan on having it completed by Thanksgiving. The original plan for Main Street was more extensive and included brick streets as well, but merchants felt that this would be too inconvenient for local businesses, so officials scaled back the project and scheduled it for Sarasota's “off-season” as to minimize any possible disruptions.   The new Main Street work will take place from Gulf Stream Avenue to Five Points Park and from Orange to Goodrich Avenues.
