The city is honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Junior by kicking off the day with a pancake breakfast at the Safety Harbor Community Center on Ninth Avenue. Trees are so beautiful and expressive! This morning I stepped outside the front door to take a walk and this is what greeted me! Is this beautiful or what?!?! I love trees - with their arms stretched up toward the sky giving thanks for the sun and rain that is provided to them that they may grow and florish!And when you look lower down, the lush foilage surrounding the tree trunks - it is the end of November and everything is GREEN (except for the gray of the Spanish Moss) - so you KNOW you HAVE TO BE in FLORIDA!These condos in Safety Harbor are surrounded by Live Oak and Cypress trees and various tropical plants. This morning I went out for an early walk and decided to walk down to the park on Marshall Street in Safety Harbor. Bill had mentioned to me that there are wild turkeys that live in that park and since it is Thanksgiving Day, I wanted to see if I could find any! I had barely entered the park when I heard their 'gobble - gobble' (no, it wasn't the kind that George Bush does, it was a WILD turkey gobble) - The sound was coming from behind the picnic area shelter, so I ventured over that way. Since it was early, I was the only human in the park. I hoped I could get a photo of the turkeys to post right here - Unfortunately, they were hiding in the woods on the other side of the creek. This has always been one of my favorite parks in north Pinellas County! When I was a school teacher I would take classes here to see the indian mounds located in the park! It is a great place for a morning walk or an afternoon in the park with the family.
