I have been a bit lazy about keeping up with our local market numbers lately.  Get too busy trying to list and sell and and don't make the time to keep up with the sales numbers.I just took a look at our residential sales in Panama City and Beaches in Bay County Florida.  The reason that  this is important to me is that I want to be able to tell the people that I meet that the market is not bad here.  So here goes, our local market has produced 5516 sales as of 11/18/07 with a grand total of $1,427,353,494 , yes that is 1.4 billion (with a B).  That to me is not the horrible market that many seem to think it is. What does your local market look like so far this year?

Some background...We relocated from California to Panama City several years ago after owning a vacation home.  We loved coming here for vacation and decided Panama City was where we wanted to be.  We left our jobs in California, packed our bags, bought a new home and started a new business (Real Estate). One thing I miss terribly though is having a dog park in our neighborhood.  In California, there were many free dog parks in many communities and I loved taking our dogs to one close to our home.  It was a great opportunity to not only meet new people, but also to keep our dogs social and friendly.  And they loved it!I've only been able to find one dog park locally and it charges a fee for each dog.  I would think that an area as picturesque and rural as Panama City would have something ...

Wondering what your home is worth in today's market.  Despite all of the negative attempts by the media to kill the real estate market, you may be surprised that you do have equity in your home.  A few things to determine if you may have equity in the home.....  How long have you lived in the home?   If you have lived in the home less than 2 years, you probably don't have any equity.   Have you taken a second mortage on your home?  If so, you have already "cashed out" on the home.   We have a website  www.panamacityhomevalues.com  for those that are interested in finding the value of their home.  It is a free service that works hand in hand with our main site www.panamacityhomesource.com  .Buyers and sellers alike will benefit from www.panamacityhomevalues.com since both will want to kn...

This article gives great insight in my opinion to the market, we have seen an increase in home sales personaly over the past 3 months, Portfolio Strategy Housing Boom! Kenneth L. Fisher 02.26.07, 12:00 AM ET Don't buy it. For months now the debate has been over whether America will have a hard landing or soft landing, the answer hinging on how big 2007's housing disaster turns out to be. Well, there won't be any housing disaster. We won't have a landing at all, soft or hard. Right now the U.S. and global economies are both accelerating. You can see right through the housing crash story by looking at the prices of housing stocks. The market knows what the economic worrywarts do not, which is that the housing sector is already making a comeback. In the last six months housing stocks are u...

Homeowner's insurance Law should bring savings By David Royse The Associated Press TALLAHASSEE Homeowners could see average property insurance savings ranging from around 10 percent in the Panhandle to more than half the cost of their policy in South Florida because of a new law, state insurance officials said Thursday. Statewide, homeowners with private insurance will see cuts of about 24 percent on average because of the law, the Office of Insurance Regulation said. After two years of extensive hurricane damage, Floridians have seen their property insurance rates double and triple. That led the Legislature to pass a sweeping new law in January that seeks in large part to give insurance companies more access to cheaper backup coverage, with the savings to be passed on to customers. In...

She was thrilled that the youngest child got a bike-and pleased that the 17-year-old boy in the group wasn't left out."Not many people donate items for older kids," says Bowman, a sales associate with Shimmering Sands Realty in Panama City Beach. "One of the companies in town gave him a $250 gift certificate for the mall and a $125 Best Buy gift certificate."The holidays were especially happy for the 17-year-old, says Bowman.
