You just can't BEAT the Eastlake area of Palm Harbor- (it's EAST of Lake Tarpon)! Why can't it be BEAT? Well, for the 9th straight year, Eastlake high school just hosted one of the best high school marching band competitions for miles around- the Eastlake Classic Invitational. 18 high schools gathered their marching bands for a top-notch competition. Bands came from all over Florida, the weather was perfect, and for us, the view was perfect! Remember Halloween safety with treats! That applies to things your own kids bring home as well as things that are passed out to those who ring your doorbell. When I was a child, we did not have the concerns that are so common today. Society has changed and this part of the change isn't a positive thing. Now we have to worry about tainted candy, apples with pieces of glass or metal inserted and the list goes on.  As a grandmother, I know that my own daughter will be going door to door with her little one, in a group with friends that have little children and only to  a neighborhood that they know well.  In addition to that, only candy that is in the original factory wrapper will be eaten. Riding the real estate market roller coaster in Palm Harbor Florida really is nothing like the information that was given out in RealEstate.com's statistics. According to their information, the bottom has not only passed but'"we have already gotten one-third back". That is certainly NOT the case here in the Palm Harbor Florida area of 34683! My information comes directly from our local MLS and while the bottom is indeed past and we are on a long overdue upward swing, it is much slower than these generalized reports indicate.  Here in Palm Harbor Florida's 34683 zip code there were 56 closed sales in August 2012 and that is up 30.2% over August 2011. Drumming for peace is exactly what was going on during Peace Week at Pasco-Hernando Community College in Spring Hill Florida yesterday! The drums were vibrating as love and acceptance filled the air! Steve Turner, owner of Giving Tree Music of Oldsmar Florida, led the group and everyone had a fantastic time sharing the excitement and feeling of oneness with each other!  Steve has only one rule: "If you don't drum, you dance", so Alice and I drummed our hearts out with this group of PHCC students being led by Steve on the drums. It was my first time EVER participating in a drum circle and if  Steve had not had his 'dance or drum' rule, I would have simply been an observer. I am SO GLAD he made me join in. Florida home prices have bottomed out was what I read this week from the Florida Association of Realtors. They were quoting facts from Florida Realtor's chief  economist, John Tuccillo, that from January 2000 to November 2006 Florida home sales rose an amazing 152%! The time span from that peak to mid-2009 shows that prices fell 43%.  While many will quote varying dates as the exact bottom of the market, one thing is for sure: The bottom came and went!  We Realtors attempted telling everyone that the bottom was going to be gone before they jumped on board and there are those who have now begun to realize that we were correct.
