Welcome to Old Downtown Palm Harbor Florida.....or should I call it Sutherland? What we today refer to as 'Old Downtown Palm Harbor' was first established back in 1888. The name Sutherland was short for the Southern Land & Development Company. The area was given this name at the time that a post office was granted to the area and the railroad came to town. In 1925 the name was again changed to Palm Harbor Florida. Palm Harbor Florida today covers a large area on both sides of Lake Tarpon. Old Downtown Palm Harbor refers specifically to the old Sutherland area. It is an area between Alternate 19 to the west and Belcher Road to the east. This is the area that was originally settled and it consists of a combination of old 1950's and 60's homes together with some newer construction. Old Dow...

Old Town Cafe & Coffee Shop is located in Old Downtown Palm Harbor Florida, formerly called Sutherland. The Old Town Cafe is one of my favorite places to meet clients or to stop off for a cup of tea on my way out. They have a wonderful selection of food that includes a bacon/egg/cheese croissant, a breakfast Cuban, bagels, wraps, paninis, salads, smoothies, ice cream and of course, great coffee and tea! Located at 1019 Florida Avenue, close to Alternate 19, this is a great place for those who enjoy a Vegan menu as well! Open 7 days a week (Mon - Sat 7 am to 3 pm and Sun 8-1) the Old Town Cafe & Coffee Shop in Old Downtown Palm Harbor Florida also offers free Wi-Fi. The Thirsty Marlin - Key West Style Food in Palm Harbor Florida The Thirsty Marlin is located at 1023 Florida Avenue in Old Downtown Palm Harbor Florida. This is one of my personal favorites for a wonderful evening out! Live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights means the place is always jumping! Could it be that owners Mike Flowers and Brian St Arnold know the secret recipe for keeping the place packed? Yup, that would be it! Great food and wonderful entertainment. Combine that with a funky setting and friendly atmosphere and you spell SUCCESS! As for the menu, how about Bahamian Conch Chowder (my favorite), lobster wrap, blackened Grouper or Mahi Mahi, Key West Style Fish Spread, fried conch fritters, crab legs, fried shrimp or J J Gandy's Key Lime Pie? They also have burgers an...

Big Brother was indeed watching the Parrot Head Festival in Old Downtown Palm Harbor Florida on Saturday and that was a good thing. In the background, you see a large 'box' in the air......that is the Pinellas County Sherrif's Department lookout station watching over the festival. Our technology certainly has come a long way in the last fifty years! The festival was, by the way, a big success. I managed to stop by for a few minutes between clients. It was blue skies, sunshine and temperatures up in the high 80's. Live entertainment had not started yet while I was there but the crowds had started to form and there was everything from bungee-cord jumping to rock climbing (tower in the background for the rock climbing). There is always something going on in Palm Harbor Florida! That is why...
