As Brickell City Center inches towards completion, construction was put on hold for an Art Basel party featuring music by Wooden Wisdom, a celebrity DJ duo headed by Elijah Wood (The Hobbit) and Zach Cowie. The private event for over 500 guests showed a sneak peek of the  $1.05-billion project that began construction in 2012. The Center will be ready for occupancy mid-2016.

Have you seen the news? Earlier this month, The Miami Herald reported that the entrepreneur/developer Moishe Mana wants to build a 24-acre ‘mini-city’ in Wynwood Art District. The plan, he told the paper, would be to take an abandoned strip of property in the neighborhood and build new buildings for tech and arts uses. He claims he wants to “make something out of nothing.” But I don’t think Wynwood is nothing or has been nothing for the past five years. It’s not actually clear from the story whether Mana is requesting permission from the city to build residential properties as well, but that’s one thing Wynwood desperately needs. I know tons of people who would love to live in a loft-style apartment building in Wynwood if one exists. There’s the famous Wynwood Lofts, which does have one...

Soccer United picks site in MIAMI  AP Photo/Lynne SladkyDavid Beckham looks like he's taking his talents to Overtown. This is a rundown neighborhood on the north west part of downtown next to I-95.The man behind the increasingly challenging mission of bringing a Major League Soccer franchise to Miami announced via statement on Friday the site is on 650 Northwest 8th Street, seven blocks east of Marlins Park and close to the Miami River. This should be GREAT for the real estate world down here!

Bay front rink opens! Ice skating outside in 80 degree weather is just so right! Leave it to the marketing folks at theInter-Continental Hotel in Downtown Miami to come up with this idea. the rink opens today Dec. 4th and admission is $15.Oh and if you see a 20 story tall image of a woman on the outside of the building that is the now infamous dancing Go-Go girl. You have to love quirky sexy Miami!

Why this gorgeous Coconut Grove bayfront 10,000 sq ft mansion is still for sale beats me. Listed at $7.9M and every inch gorgeous it is just waiting for the perfect buyer I suspect. Close to downtown and easy access to shopping and restaurants in the Coconut Grove "village" this home is truly a Moorish styled palace.

One of my favorite little-known condos in Miami is a loft just north of the Arts District called Bank Lofts. If you’re driving north on Biscayne, this is the apartment building on the right just before Northeast 82nd Street. The building was originally supposed to be a bank, but in 2007 it converted to a condominium instead — a rather gorgeous one at that. You won’t be sleeping in the vault or anything like that, but the residents of Bank Lofts enjoy some of the largest and most genuine lofts in Miami, where developers often slap the word “loft” on units even though they’re not. These are true lofts. The open floor plans allow for any configuration. All the units do, of course, have bathrooms and kitchens that are finished. For a great case in point, there are two Bank Lofts units availa...

One of my favorite parts about living in Miami is the gorgeous views from my balcony. I love looking at the downtown lights and the ocean. We’d all like to spend more time enjoying fresh air and take advantage of Miami’s gorgeous views. Adding some nice furniture and blinds to your balcony will make your seldomly used balcony into a cozy little getaway. Here are some of my favorite outdoor decor:Outdoor Blinds – A lot of the time, we tend to neglect our balcony’s because of how hot it gets here in the city. The sun feels like its piercing through our windows. Outdoor blinds are a great innovation to help bring some adjustable shade to your outdoor space. These blinds can range from $25-$75, but I would highly suggest making this an investment for your home. You want to make sure you are ...

I Love Midtown Miami - Bistro Cassis on Buena Vista Boulevard  I just love where I live in Midtown Miami, near the Design District. Within a relatively small, highly walkable area of the "Shops at Midtown" district there are multitudes of delightful restaurants, some well-established and popular, others fairly new and still being discovered.  One of my new discoveries is the Bistro Cassis, a French restaurant. It was suggested to my friend, with whom I had dinner, by another friend - word of mouth rocks! From A to Z, the dining experience was a delight. The French Martinis (vodka and raspberry orientation) were pretty good as well. The soup of the day, mundane-sounding carrot soup, was absolutely delicious, with a hint of lobster-bisque.  Even a simple green salad came with a delicate, ...

Canvas Miami coming soon.          Canvas Miami, a 37-story building with 513 condos and 14,000 s.f. of commercial space, intends to infuse new life into an area that has otherwise been known for its proximity to the Miami City Cemetery. The area will also soon be known for the new Viacom studio production hub (I am excited about this!). With a plan to break ground this year, completion is slated for 2017. In the meantime, they've released new renderings of the amenities deck and lounge to illustrate the building's common areas.     Units at Canvas range in size from 620 to 1,110 s.f. with prices from the mid $300,000s to $600,000s.

Plans for starchitect Rafael Viñoly's Miami River tower have been officially submitted to the City of Miami Planning Department by the developer, Kar Properties. The design is basically two rectangular towers placed at ninety degree angles to each other and connected at the bottom and the top, with a large waterfall (3 stories) cascading off the podium that will give the effect that it's coming out of the building's swimming pool. The 60-story towers top off at a height of 779 feet.Levels 7-46 will be condo, while 56-59, which connect both buildings, will contain a mixture of residential, 20 hotel units, and a restaurant or some other kind of commercial. These levels will be connected by high speed elevators on the building's exterior. There are 402 residential units total. No pricing h...
