South Beach Condos (Miami Beach, FL)

Roney Palace is one of those Miami Beach luxury condos that doesn’t have to be in your face all the time to be successful. Maybe that’s because it’s been around since 1926. Considering Miami Beach was incorporated in 1915, it’s safe to say that Roney Palace is part of the city’s backbone. (It’s not “old” either though; the building got a total makeover in 2000.)Perhaps because the building isn’t constantly in the limelight is why it has several beautiful penthouses for sale all below $2.5 million. Another good reason is because they’re small: The biggest penthouse unit for sale right now is only 1,230 square feet, and the largest unit for sale isn’t even a penthouse. It’s on the eighth floor.Even so, these condos are beautiful. Many have marble floors, and they all have a view of the oc...

Every so often, I pull out a property that’s not necessarily a new listing but deserves a lot of attention. This week, it’s this penthouse at Sunset Harbour. If you’re not familiar with Sunset Harbour, it’s a Miami Beach condominium that was part of a wave of development on the west side of the island facing the Miami skyline. (Facing west, therefore: Sunset.) Built in 1998, it has 25 floors and 391 units. The most expensive unit in the building is TS-2/3. And that’s the unit I’d like to tell you about. OK, even though it’s the most pricey condo in Sunset Harbour, it’s still pretty affordable for the kind of space we’re looking at. The listing is for $8.39 million. But here’s what that includes: five bedrooms, five full bathrooms and one half bath. It’s 7,545 square feet, and every inch...

If you haven't been down to the Art Deco district of Miami in awhile, some new restaurants have opened up that are worth checking out. If you're a single woman sitting at a bar, how would you like to look up and eye a meat hook as the chandelier? That's what you will see at the acclaimed Manhattan restaurant Quality Meats, which opened its doors in February at the South Beach district of Miami in the setting of the historic Art Deco building which once housed the Bancroft hotel at 1501 Collins. The designer has uniquely utilized the existing hotel features: the original check-in desk is a butcher counter and the reception desk a service bar. Co-owner Michael Stillman collaborated with AvroKO to create a "stripped down Art Deco atmosphere" in the eatery, which includes the aforemention...
