According to the National Day Calendar Site today is: National Hug Day or National Hugging Day that occurs on January 21st and is officially recognized by the United States Copyright Office, but is not a public holiday. The purpose of the day is to help everyone show more emotion in public. The only way to celebrate the day is by offering a hug to anyone and everyone you want. While National Hug Day and the Free Hugs Campaign share many similarities, there is not an association between the two.Whether you hug a family member or a stranger, the mental and physical health benefits are the same. From the day we are born, hugs or touch improve our sleep. Hugging, like cuddling, releases oxytocin. On its own, this hormone provides tremendous health benefits. According to the National Day Calendar site today is National Trivia Day!Each year, the holiday recognizes the collectors of unconnected, irrelevant data, facts, history, and quotes in the recesses of their brains. They are the ones who usually proffer these sometimes astounding bits of history when friends and family least expect it. The word trivia is plural for the word trivium. In ancient times, the term “trivia” was appropriated to mean something very new.Nostalgic college students in the 1960s, along with others, began to informally trade questions and answers about the popular culture of their youth.  After writing trivia columns, Columbia University students Ed Goodgold and Dan Carlinsky created the earliest inter-collegiate quiz bowls that tested culturally (and emotionally) sig...

It may seem hard to imagine that the home you’re in today – whether it’s your starter home or just one you’ve fallen in love with along the way – might not be your forever home. The good news is, it’s okay to admit if your house no longer fits your needs.According to the latest Home Price Insights from CoreLogic, prices have appreciated 3.5% year-over-year. At the same time, the National Association of Realtors (NAR) reports inventory has dropped 4.3% from one year ago. These two statistics are directly related to one another. As inventory has decreased and demand has increased, prices have been driven up.This is great news if you own a home and are thinking about selling. The equity in your house has likely risen as prices have increased. Even better is the fact that there’s a large pool...

Early morning walk in Fort Myers Beach. Orchids, Eucalyptus, jasmine, the back bay or Estero Bay. Short clip of Lovers Key. Sometimes we may need to take a step back and smell the roses, lift one's eyes and just enjoy what is around us and smile. Its a simple feeling. Sometimes simplicity is what we most crave for and often we walk away from it. When we do come back to that feeling a sort of peace and strength radiates again within you. We know we can always come back to it.      Fell free to call LLoyd, your local expert. Fort Myers Beach condos $179 K to $550 K

In the last ten years my wife and I have witnessed many dramatic changes in Estero Island and San Carlos Island.  So called progress comes at a price. Some is needed as the constructions of new roads, water system and irrigation, or the beautification of downtown with cobble stones along the walk ways or along 1st street all along to the bay, with french like city lights, palms along the streets and for example a fountain at the very end of 1st Street next to restaurant Nervous Nellie.   San Carlos island older cottage on Prescott st.     All in all a majority seem to prefer the town as it is now. Some miss the hunky tonk look, the more lay back and funky atmosphere of the 80's or 90's an even the early 2000's. Empty lots and old ranch homes or beach cottages have been replaced by large...
